                                                      CIVITAVECCHIA (Italy)
  The port city of Civitavecchia lies about an hour from Italy s capit al, Rome, and is t he st art ing point f or
    excursions int o t he Et ernal Cit y . Rome probably needs no int roduct ion it is the ultimate vacation
  destination - there is perhaps no other city so crammed full of history, with layer upon layer of fabulous
ruins and imperial temples, not to mention Etruscan tombs, early Christian churches, medieval bell towers,
Renaissance palaces and baroque basilicas, all which can be enjoyed under the magic of the warm Southern
                                                      sun.



CIV01 - ROME, CLASSIC TOUR ( full day with lunch )

CIV03 - ROME ON YOUR OWN ( full day without lunch)
Bus transfer without guide to Rome (about 1 hour and a half) where you will have the entire day to discover this
fascinat ing t own on your own. You will be given inst ruct ions on how t o move in t own and a map t o be able not
to miss the most important monuments.
Note : lunch is not incl uded in t he price of t he excursion but is at t he cl ient s charge. The bus st ops near St . Pet er s Square;
this is the point of arrival and departure of your tour.

CIV04 - ANCIENT OSTIA ( approximate 4,5 hours )
We leave Civit avecchia port and reach Ost ia (1 hour), t he ancient port of Rome. Visit of t he archaeological sit e
discovered thanks to the excavation that began in the XIX century.

advised to Guests with mobility problems.

CIV06 - ROME UNDERGROUND MYSTERIES ( full day with lunch )
Experiment a new way t o explore t he et ernal cit y. Leaving t he port by Rome Express , a private train, you will
reach San Pet er s St at ion in t he Vat ican St at e aft er about 1 hour. You will reach t he Coliseum by bus for a visit
t o t he imposing amphit heat re t hat has a capacit y of up t o 50.000 persons and t hat was used for t he purpose of
viewing t he cruel fight s among t he gladiat ors. You will t hen cont inue by foot t owards t he Basilica of Saint
Clemente, a church built in 385. You will visit t he underground archaeological area. Aft er lunch in a t ypical

CIV08         ROME      &    THE     WONDERS OF            THE     VATICAN       MUSEUM       (   full   day     with    no     lunch)


A bus transfer will take you to Rome where a guide is waiting for you and who will introduce you to a panoramic
of some of t he main monument s of t he et ernal cit y : t he Aurelian Walls, t he Pyramide, Caracalla s Bat hs,
  Circus Massimus , t he Colosseo , t he Roman Forum, Venice Square and t he romant ic Lungot evere : all
t hese sit es while comfort ably sit t ing in your coach. Then proceed t o t he Vat ican area where, wit h a short walk,
you will reach t he Vat ican Museum. This excursion will give you a privileged access t o t he sit e avoiding t he
queue. Guided t our inside one of t he most famous museums of t he world t o admire t he mast erpieces
commissioned by t he Roman Popes, collect ed and preserved druing t he ages, as well as t he Sist ine Chapel wit h

GOA01T - PORTOFINO ( approximate 4 hours )
This is a tour rich in scenery and a chance to enjoy this lush section of the Italian Riviera. The tour begins with a
wit h a 45-minut e coach ride t o Sant a Margherit a Ligure before a 10-minut e ride t o Portofino. Here we will have
plent y of leasure t ime t o explore t his delight dul seaside t own, t o t ake pict ures or relax in t he cafés. We will
continue by boat to Santa Margherita, from where we will return to Genoa and to the ship.

Leave t he vessel and enj oy a few hours discovering some of Ist anbul j ewels : the Rüst em Pasha Mosque, t he
Underground Cist ern and t he sight s and scent s of t he spices bazaar. Our excursion begins wit h a visit t o t he
Ot t oman Mosque Rüst em Pasha designed in 1561 by t he archit ect Mimar Sinan for Grand Vizier Damat Rüst em
Pasha. We will admire it s int erior charact erized by exquisit e tomato-red Iznik t iles set in a stunning floral and
geomet ric design t ypical of t he early Iznik period ( 1555 1620 ). The mosque was built on a high t errace over a
complenx of vault ed shops and has a double porch wit h five domed bays. We will cont inue on t o t he Cist erna
Basilica , t he largest of several underground cist erns beneat h t he cit y of Ist anbul, wit h 336 marble columns. You
will admire t he face of Medusa, locat ed in t he nort hwest corner of t he cist ern and which is set upside down,

life before continuing to St. Sophia church to admire the wonderful Byzantine mosaics and learn more about this

of t he Bosphorus. We will cross t he bridge on t he Bosphorus t o reach t he Asian side and visit Beylerbeyi Palace,

recept ion hall wit h a nice pool and fount ain. Aft er t he visit t o t he Palace we will board a boat t o reach t he

  Cist erna Basilica , t he largest of several underground cist erns beneat h t he cit y of Ist anbul, wit h it s 336 marble
columns. It s name comes from a large public square, t he St oa Basilica, beneat h which it was originally

t akes you t o t he renowned ancient Graeco-Roman t heat re, first built by t he Greeks before being re-built by t he
Romans. Enj oy t he wonderful view before cont inuing t o Corvaia Palace ( ext ernal visit ); an hist oric XV cent ury
building t hat formerly housed t he Sicilian Parliament . We will also admire t he small Roman t heat re or Odeon

MES05 CITY TOUR ( approximate 3,5 hours)
Messina was founded in 730 B.C. by t he Greek ; t he cit y was systematically dest royed by eart hquakes. Our tour
will depart by bus from t he port t o reach Ganzirri, a small fishing village sit uat ed near t he Pant ano Grande and
Pant ano Piccolo lakes. We will continue t o Capo Peloro, t he nearest point t o t he coast of Calabria. Enj oy a
panoramic t our of Messina, admiring Piazza Cairoli, t he Court House, t he Universit y and t he Crist o Re Church
that dominates the harbour and the strait. We will stop for photos before continuing our tour past San Francesco
Church, t he Government Hall, t he Fount ain of Nept une and t he main st reet, Viale della Libert á. Visit t he

  the old part of the city is one of the most beautiful in the country! This pretty spot is sheltered by two
 mountains crowned by medieval fortresses, which look down upon a scenic harbourfront. The town is ideal
         for exploring the nearby ancient sites of Myceneae, Epidavros, Nemea, Argos and Corinth.


NFP01 - ANCIENT EPIDAUROS & PALAMIDI FORTRESS ( approximate 4 hous )
Depart from t he port of Nafplion for a coach t ransfer t hrough vineyards and age-old groves t o reach
Epidaurus. On a hillside, t he t emple was t he most celebrat ed healing cent er of t he classical world, t he place
where ill people went in the hope of being cured. The theate is the best preserved of all the ancient theatres
in Greece. We will visit t he sit e and see t he foundat ions of t he t emple of Asklepios. t he guest house, t he
t holos, t he Abat on or sleeping porch as well as t he t emples of Art emis and Themis and t he gymnasium. En
rout e on our ret urn t o Nauplion, we will visit Palamidi Fort ress which commands an impressive view over t he

NFP03 ANCIENT MYCENAE (approximately 3,5 hours)
Join us on t his day out t o discover t he beaut ies of Mycenae, one of t he great cit ies of t he ancient world. The
region of Mycenae was inhabit ed since t he beginning of t he Bronze Age (around 2500 BC) and reached t he peak
of its political, military and cultural power in the period from 1600 to 1100 BC when the kingdom was conquered
by t he Dorians. Wit h your guide, you will explore t he ruins and excavat ions; admire t he famous Lions Gat e at
t he ent rance of t he walled cit adel and t he renowned Beehive Tomb, supposed t o be Agamemnon s t omb.
Excavations also uncovered the palace complex, shaft graves and many gold treasures. Return to the port.

OLB03 - DISCOVERING SARDINIAN NURAGHE ( approximate 4,5 hours )
The Nuraghe are a main feat ure of Sardinia and dat es back to bet ween 2000 t o 300 B.C.. These prehist oric
t owers made of rough rocks were used t o be in t ime houses and sit es of worship. We will visit t he Nurage
Albucciu and t he archaeological area where t he Giant s' Tomb can be found; t his t omb is a perfect example of
pre-hist oric communal burial ground. We will visit Luras, one of t he best preserved villages of the Gallura
region. Continuing the ancient theme, during this excursion we will admire some of oldest trees in Europe, some
of which date back 4000 years. Return to Olbia.

continues across t he nort hernmost part of t he island, t o Sant a Teresa di Gallura which lies opposite the

during the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. the excursion includes a guided walking tour of this large
archaeological sit e which has been perfect ly preserved under a layer of volcanic ash. We will also visit a coral
factory on the way back to the port.
