Business Continuity – Why Bother?

Thursday 1st November 2007

Cedar Court Hotel, Denby Dale Road, Wakefield, WF4 3QZ

Business Continuity Management (BCM) is a fascinating area. Organisations may be forgiven for

assuming that whilst the impact of a major event occurring may be high, the actual likelihood of an event

occurring may be so remote that there often seems to be little point in spending time and effort on detailed

planning. And anyway, isn‟t this what insurance is for?

Conversely, in a world where incidents such as 9/11, 7/7 and the Asian Tsunami appear to be coming

more and more commonplace, can any organisation afford not to plan for the worst?

This morning seminar will be a „round table discussion‟ for individuals interested in BCM to meet and to

discuss their views on whether, and how, to implement a robust, value-adding Business Continuity

Framework that is capable of delivering when required, without becoming an administrative and costly

burden on the organisation.

George Quigley, a partner with BDO Stoy Hayward LLP specialising in Business and Technology Risk,

will facilitate a fully participative workshop which will demand active input from all attendees. George will

be posing ten questions for discussion and debate aimed at answering the question “Business Continuity

– Why Bother”.

Terms and Conditions of Booking

All bookings should be made on the Institute‟s booking forms and sent with a cheque in full payment of the course fee. Companies that require an invoice in order to raise a cheque should

forward the completed booking form with a statement of intent to pay the fee on receipt of the invoice.

Companies booking five or more delegates on the same course will be offered a 10% reduction on the total fee. (+)Please note that the number of free Student places available are limited and are

allocated on a first come first served basis.

Any delegate wishing to transfer courses must give 21 days written notice. An administration fee of 20% will be charged. Later transfers cannot be accepted and the full course fee will be

charged.

Please notify us in writing 21 days before the start of the course. A 20% administration fee will be charged. Unfortunately late cancellations damage and sometimes cause events to be

abandoned. Therefore if a delegate withdraws, for whatever reason within the 21-day period, the fee will remain payable in full if the delegate‟s organisation is unable to nominate a substitute.

Where circumstances dictate, the Institute reserves the right to alter published programmes, speakers, fees or venues without prior notice. In such cases its liability shall be restricted to a refund

of any course fee paid.

The Institute does not accept any liability for anyone acting or refraining from acting as a result of any information or views expressed on its training courses. Delegates should take specific

advice when dealing with specific situations. Opinions expressed are those of individual speakers and not necessarily those of the Institute.
