KEY POSITION FILLED AT $259 MILLION
        NASSAU COUNTY SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY
The Amsterdam at Harborside Names Executive Director
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.: As construction on The Amsterdam at Harborside continues to
rapidly advance and residents move closer to enjoying everything the senior living community has to
offer, Gina D’Angelo has been hired as executive director. She will take the lead in preparing
The Amsterdam to welcome residents to their new lifestyle, as the community is on schedule to open in
the third quarter of 2010. The Amsterdam, which is the first life care community in Nassau County and
only the ninth such community in New York state, is already 90 percent reserved.
D’Angelo comes to The Amsterdam with extensive senior living experience, in working with
progressive communities on the East Coast, most recently serving as regional director of operations with
oversight of eight mid-size to large senior living and skilled communities. D’Angelo’s more than 27
years in senior living and health care includes experience both in sales and operations for single and
multi-site community sponsors. Early in her career, D’Angelo served in the military as a Naval Nurse
Corps officer at Bethesda Naval Hospital, in Bethesda, Md.
D’Angelo received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Wheeling Jesuit University, in
Wheeling, W. Va. She also earned a master of business administration degree from the John Hopkins
School of Business, in Baltimore, Md. D’Angelo is a licensed registered nurse and nursing home
administrator.
“After completing an extensive search, we are very pleased to have someone with Gina
D’Angelo’s experience and expertise lead The Amsterdam. She will set the tone of what the community
will soon become,” said Jim Davis, president and chief executive officer of Amsterdam House
Continuing Care Retirement Community, Inc., sponsor of The Amsterdam. “Gina shares our
commitment to building on the extraordinary lifestyle at The Amsterdam.”

“It’s very thrilling to be leading the way as The Amsterdam brings life care to Nassau County,”
said D’Angelo. “We are going to give The Amsterdam high-quality touches and pay attention to the
small details that set a community apart. Our staff will be focused on first-class hospitality, providing
outstanding service and delivering quality care when residents need it.”
The six-story, $259 million community, under construction on Fairway Drive near Harbor Links
Golf Course in Port Washington, will consist of 229 independent living apartment homes. In addition to
its vibrant, independent living and maintenance-free lifestyle, the community guarantees a full
continuum of care with access to on-site enriched housing, skilled nursing and memory support, if
needed. Through life care, residents will never be asked to leave, knowing they will receive the full
continuum of care provided by The Amsterdam.
Future residents will also enjoy such amenities as a state-of-the-art fitness center, an
underground parking garage, media room and library.
D’Angelo’s initial responsibility at The Amsterdam will be preparing for the community opening
in the third quarter of 2010. As construction on the community is concluded, she will be filling about
140 new resident service positions during the second half of 2010, ranging from Dining Service
Director, Lifestyle and Leisure Director and Nursing Home Administrator to name a few.
“We will assemble the very best team to serve the valued members of our community, as we
move through the opening of The Amsterdam and watch the community take on its own character,” said
D’Angelo. “Our goal is that the community be a place where all residents’ needs and desires are met,
and they have every opportunity possible to enhance or maintain their vibrant and active lives.”
