Crown Events is a complete service provider that offers assistance with all the extra
details that make your function the best that it can be. A team of professional event
managers can assist you with everything from photography, flowers and table
decoration to staging, audio visual equipment and theme requirements. Crown
Events looks after all the details, big and small.

Health and Safety Policy

Crown is committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all
employees, contractors, patrons and visitors.

Crown employees, contractors and visitors are responsible for their own health and
safety and that of their work colleagues.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Crown recognises that the consumption of alcohol is a part of most Australians’ social
life and encourages its patrons to consume alcohol responsibly.

Crown discourages the consumption of alcohol, which results in:

•      intoxication and drunkenness; and/or
•      disruptive, offensive, aggressive or dangerous behaviour.

Crown has appointed RSA Managers and undertaken extensive staff training to
monitor and manage the consumption of alcohol on its licensed premises.

Crown recognises that it must take reasonable care to avoid injuries as a result of the
service of alcohol to its patrons. In recognition of Crown’s legal and social
obligations, Crown has established and developed detailed protocols to ensure that
its obligations are met.

Security Officers

To ensure the safety of your guests as well as others, a security officer/s must be
present when the River Room Balcony is in use or where an event with alcohol
service exceeds 500 attendees. Further Crown security officers will be required for
each 200 attendees exceeding 500 attendees.

A security officer must be present half an hour prior to the commencement of your
event until half an hour after the conclusion of your event.

The following hourly rates apply for a security officer for a minimum 4 hour

Monday to Sunday          $47.00 per hour (total of $188.00 per officer)
Public Holidays           $52.00 per hour (total of $208.00 per officer)

Security officers must be booked at least 3 days prior to your event. Please discuss
this with your Event Manager.

Audio Visual

Staging Connections, Asia Pacific’s premier event staging services provider, is our in-
house partner. Working with you to develop innovative and unique solutions, Staging
Connections delivers highly professional events including meetings and conferences,
product launches, incentives, media launches and corporate functions. From creative
ideas, styling and theming, through to audio visual and technical production
management, Staging Connections is onsite and with you every step of the way.

As outside suppliers of audiovisual are commonly used, Crown wishes to bring to
your attention a number of technical and equipment issues that need to be
considered and included in your costing estimates. These items are required to
ensure the safety, security and quality of your event. “Contractor Supervisors”,
licensed operators for scissor lifts and certified riggers will be required, if needed.
The client agrees to act as guarantor for all costs that might be incurred associated
with their outside supplier of audiovisual.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In accordance with Australian Standard 3760 all portable
electrical equipment brought onto Crown premises by clients, their guests and their
contracted suppliers must have been tested and tagged by a licensed electrician, and
the tag must be valid.

Contractor Supervisor

It is Crown Melbourne Limited policy that a Contractor Supervisor be present
whenever an external Production/Audiovisual Company is involved in an event in any
of Crown’s function rooms. This also includes any event where Crown Event
Management deem it necessary for a Contractor Supervisor to be present, for
example bands where Crown services are utilised, balloon drops where ceiling or roof
catwalk access is required, laser effects, pyro and aero technics.

The Contractor Supervisor is a Crown Occupational Health and Safety requirement to
safeguard Crown fittings and monitor work practices by external contractors employed
by the client to ensure safety for all guests, staff and contractors.

Should you choose to utilise an external Production/Audiovisual Company
(Contractor) please factor the cost of the Contractor Supervisor charge into your
event budget. The hourly rate for a CS is $75.00 per hour (excluding GST) for a
minimum 3 hour call or $116.25 per hour (excluding GST) on public holidays. This
charge will be added under the audio visual section of your banquet event order. The
Contractor Supervisor is required for the duration of event bump in, show and bump
out. More than one Contractor Supervisor may be required at any given time
depending on the number of areas being used and the complexity of the event as
determined by Crown Event Management.

Contractor Supervisor hours and subsequent cost for your event will be confirmed by
Crown once your external contractor work is confirmed with your event manager. Any
additional hours required on the day will be added to your account. Contractor
Supervisor shift times need to be confirmed 72 hours prior to the event. Crown may
not be able to accommodate changes in access times if sufficient notification is not

Risk Assessments

Risk assessments may be required to be completed by either the client or the
external contractor in instances where Crown considers part of the event to be a
potential Occupational Health and Safety risk. Common examples of when risk
assessments will be required to be completed include working at heights, animals as
part of an event, use of smoke machines, set construction, rigging, heavy vehicles or
equipment brought on site or performing artists. This list is not exhaustive - your
event manager will advise whether a risk assessment is required to be completed for
your event.

External Contractors

Prior to organising external contractors for your event at Crown, please be aware of
the following Crown requirements:

Use of any external contractors (including but not restricted to Audio Visual
companies, bands, DJ’s, entertainers, pyrotechnic companies) requires public liability
of $20 million from either the contractor or the client. Proof of public liability will be
required in the form of a copy of the Certificate of Currency.

Prior to coming onsite, external contractors requiring back of house access will be
required to complete a 30 - 40 minute online Occupational Health and Safety
Induction course. The course can also be completed onsite at staff entry. Once
completed and passed, a contractor pass will be issued which must be worn at all
times in back of house areas and returned at the completion of the event bump out.
The on-line course can be accessed from the internet from a home or work computer
- more information and the link will be provided by your Event Manager.

Should the client or external contractor be bringing their own electrical equipment to
Crown, each piece of electrical equipment must be tagged and tested in accordance
with the requirements of the Australian standards AS/NZ 3760.

A Contractor Supervisor (CS) is required when the client or the external contractor is
undertaking activities including (but not restricted to):

- Use of Crown’s in house audio visual system
- Use of Crown’s electrical equipment
- Access to ceiling or roof catwalk
- Use of laser effects
- Use of pyrotechnics and aero technics
- Lighting production
- Where 3 phase power is required

Valet Parking

Valet parking is available at the Casino Atrium Entrance - Whiteman Street.
Cost is $40 per 24 hour period. Payment is on exit. All prices include GST.

Parking rates are subject to change.
Crown reserves the right to apply a $15 entry fee prior to the commencement of
selected AFL and other special events.


Crown Events has appointed Staging Connections as our preferred suppliers of
theming and event design and decoration services. Please advise your Event
Manager if you require theming for your event.

Please note that you are under no obligation, and Crown Events does not require you
to use Staging Connections for theming.

Private Poker Table at Crown

Private tables are available for hire in the Crown Poker Room from $200 per table,
per hour (subject to availability), with a minimum of two hours per booking.

Private tables are within the Poker Room, located on Level B2, with each table
seating a maximum of 11 players. Bookings can be made to start at either 6pm or
8pm on any night of the week. Table hire includes an optional lesson in how to play
No Limit Texas Holdem Poker, followed by a single or multi-table tournament played
with tournament chips which will be run by your dealer and tournament supervisor.

Full waiter service is available at all tables and a tab can be arranged with the Las
Vegas Bar on the night.
