Registration Information
All youth and children must be registered with Child, Youth, and School Services.
School Age Services is open to children who have completed Kindergarten through 5 th grade. School
Age Services‟ rates are based on total family income and include all trips, activities and meals/snacks.
Registration for SAS can be completed at the Central Enrollment Registry location at Building 283
761st Tank Battalion Avenue, Monday-Friday from 0730-1600, (254)287-8029. Families not currently
enrolled in SAS must first attend orientation prior to child attending. Orientation is held Monday-
Thursday at 1800 and Friday at 1200 at Walker-Meadows, Building 85018 Warrior Way, next to the
Warrior Way Commissary.
Youth Services is open to youth in 6th to 12th grade at no charge. Fees for special trip/activities will
vary with Youth Services. Registration for YS can be completed at the Youth Centers or at the Central
Enrollment Registry location at Building 283 Battalion Avenue, Monday-Friday from 0730-1600.

Learn the ins and outs of scholarships, college applications, writing samples, and
other helpful tips and advice to help with college preparation. Also, learn to use the
web to find financial aid, tuition cost, scholarships, and college application
deadlines.
Thanksgiving Pictures Cost: Free
November 12th @ 6pm
Create your own Thanksgiving digital picture to
send to your friends and family. Using a digital camera, you
can create a Thanksgiving picture and then digitally add
clip-art, words, or change the color. Print them out on
photo paper and put them in a frame to decorate.

The Gift of Giving Cost: Free

Families will enjoy an evening of holiday music, games, and a night of beauty. Gifts
will be collected to give to those less fortunate. Families are encouraged to bring
new wrapped mittens and gloves of all sizes. Also, join with us a Friday Night
Special Dinner.

Create your own Holiday cookbook and apron. Bring in your favorite recipes or
download from the Internet. You will be able to bring your favorite recipes together
to form your own cookbook!

Come join us! Test your Wii skills in a Wii sports tournament. Enjoy a staff versus
youth volleyball game. Late night snack served at 8pm. Come and hang out.
Spaghetti Dinner &
Character Counts Bingo Night Cost: Free
October 24th@ 6pm – 8pm
Bring the family and enjoy a spaghetti dinner in celebration of Character Counts
Week. We will also be playing bingo. Please, bring a canned food or non-
perishable item to donate for the can food drive. All donations will be given to the
Mission Food Kitchen, on Make a Difference Day, October 25, 2008. We are also
taking donations of school uniforms; these uniforms will be donated to the youth
affected by Hurricane Ike. We are asking for all sizes and colors.

Learn how to manage your own amusement park. Test your marketing skills. In
order for your park to do well, you must get people excited about your park. You‟re
the next Walt Disney, what will you build?
Record, Edit, and Learn how to make a slide show Cost: Free
October 16th @ 5pm – 6pm
Come visit us and learn how to record, edit, and finalize a slide show. We will teach
you how to add music and video clips to your power point presentation.
Building a Character Counts Jeopardy Cost: Free
October 23rd @ 5pm – 6pm
Put together a fun twist to an old game. Piece together
all six pillars of character in a fun game of jeopardy.
Then test your parents‟ knowledge on October 24.
Mad Scientist Lab - Make Frozen Bubbles
Cost: Free October 30th @ 5pm – 6pm
Muahaha! Use dry ice to freeze bubbles solid so you
can pick them up and examine them.

Come in your comfy weekend sweats and see us for a day of relaxation. Enjoy
exercise, make and take spa kits, massage, and manicures. All family members are

Don‟t just watch a movie, learn how to manage sound, hook up equipment, and
project a movie on the wall. This would be a fun way to celebrate your next family
night.
Aromatherapy Candles/soap Cost: Free

Life can be rough! Take the time to stop and smell the lavender. Learn how to make
aromatherapy candles and soaps. Lavender is said to be a scent that calms the
nerves and relaxes the body.
Origami Holiday Decoration/Menu Cost: Free

Learn a new way to spice up any table. Learn to fold origami paper into fun holiday
table decorations. Type and design an elegant Thanksgiving menu for our
traditional Thanksgiving dinner on November 20.

will add a bit of holiday cheer into any environment.

Are you ready for some football? Recruit, manage, and own your own team.
Implement your own defensive and offensive strategies. Will your team be strong
enough to go all the way?

Winter Lock-in

Middle School and High School students that are registered with CYS Services are
welcome to our lock-in. There will be fun activities and trips throughout the evening.
Snacks will be provided in the evening as well as in the morning. Not registered? Why

Robotics Time:

Test your ingenuity. Come and assemble a robot. You get to program this robot. Then
challenge your robot against the other robots to see whose robot will make it through
the obstacle course.

Youth will experiment with hydrogels to find ways to conserve water and decrease
the amount of groundwater used. They will find ways for hydrogels to help the
environment.

November 6th @ 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Youth will divide into groups and research the area and cultures of a continent.
Youth will then present a slide show and try to convince their peers why it would be
better to live in their continent.
Microsoft Workshop (PowerPoint) Cost: Free
November 17-19th @ 5pm – 6pm
Youth will use computers to research Thanksgiving and then make a slide show to
present to their parents on the night of our Thanksgiving Dinner on November 25th.
Each youth will have the opportunity to make his/her own slides for their parents.
They will also create a project that will say why they are thankful for their parents
and that will be taken home with them.
Native Americans Cost: Free
November 20th @ 5pm – 7pm
Youth will use the Internet to research Native Americans and how the early
colonization of Europeans affected them. Youth will create poster boards to display
the Native American culture and other information they found using the internet.

Fantasy Basketball Cost: Free
December 4th @ 5pm – 7pm
Youth will create their own fantasy basketball team using MSNBC Sports website to
create their team. Statistics for all NBA players will be researched and used to
produce the best team. Then the youth will create a flier with their team‟s
information.
Create a CD Cost: Free
December 11th @ 5pm – 7pm
Youth will create there own CD. The youth will design
a front and back cover of their CD representing
their personal style and values.
Microsoft Publisher Workshop Cost: Free
December 22nd 1pm – 3pm
Youth will create Holiday cards using Microsoft
Publisher. This will increase their knowledge of the
program. The cards created will be handed out on
December 24, 2008 to the Nursing Home along with
a craft made by the youth.

holiday cards made by the youth to the elderly.

Bronco Youth Center
The Color Purple & Texas State Fair
Cost: $48.50 (Free with deployment orders)

Enjoy a trip to Dallas and experience The Color Purple and a day at the State Fair.
The Color Purple is a Broadway musical based upon the novel by Alice Walker.
Follow the paths of two sisters who lead very different lives. Separated during their
youth one traveled the road to success while the other was forced into a loveless
and abusive marriage.
Step right up, grab a corn dog, and get ready for some Texas-size fun at the State
Fair of Texas. Enjoy a day of live music, thrilling rides on the Midway, new
futuristic automobiles, a variety of delicious foods, and “Big Tex”!

Youth will visit the historical Riverwalk in San Antonio. Youth will explore the
