CLIFF CAVE PARK
PARK HISTORY
The purchase of Cliff Cave property was initiated as a result of the 1969 Bond Issue. This money was matched with federal acquisition dollars from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, as well as other related agencies. Condemnation and purchasing of these tracts was completed in the fall of 1972. Cliff Cave was officially opened to the public in the spring of 1977. Cliff Cave Park is part of the Mississippi River Greenway. It is also one of the five parks designated as a Heritage Park in a referendum held in 1986, limiting the amount of development that can take place there.
