AIM AND SCOPE
On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are pleased to invite the scientific community to attend the
5th European Conference on Pesticides and Related Organic Micropollutants in the Environment and the
11th Symposium on Chemistry and Fate of Modern Pesticides, which will be held in Marseille (France),
from October, 22nd-25th 2008. The aims of this congress are to:

            Provide a communication forum for the exchange of knowledge and technology among
               scientists interested in Pesticides, Micropollutants, Environment and Food.
            To foster collaboration among scientists, engineers, industries, education
            To enhance the image of Environmental sciences

These events are supported by the "European-Mediterranean Association for Environmental Education
Assessment and Protection" and the "International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry".

The congress will be organised in six sessions, with plenary lectures given by outstanding scientists.
The programme will include keynotes, invited lectures, oral and posters communications selected on
the basis of abstract selection. After the conference, a special issue in Journal of Environmental
Analytical Chemistry will be provided for publication which will be peer-reviewed following the
conventional rules of the journal.

CALL FOR ABSTRACT                                                 DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: AUGUST, 31ST, 2008
Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract (no more than 4 pages. Minimum 1 full page) by
following the instruction to authors indicated bellow. Please save your document file as:

                           AuthorName_Abstract.doc (e.g. Duchemin_Abstract.doc)

The extended abstract should be sent by fax, mail or preferentially by e-mail attachment (MS-Word
.doc or RTF file) to the following email address:

Preparation and Submission of Abstracts
The abstract must not exceed four pages with the figures, tables and the references. The text should
be submitted in Microsoft Word Version 6.0 (or later). Please download the template, this file contains
the entire required format and will help you to fill the abstract. The document should be prepared in
English.

GENERAL INFORMATION
      Language
      The official language of the Congress is English.
      Meeting & Exhibition Venue
      The Congress will be held at the Mercure Euro centre Hotel, 1 rue Neuve Saint Martin -
      13001 MARSEILLE. The Centre is located in the centre of Marseille from only 5 minutes of the
      famous Vieux-Port and the Canebière Street.
      Notice for drivers
      Drivers should be aware that the tolerance of blood alcohol level while driving in France is
      0.5 g/l.
      Parking
      Parking with fee is available at the underground parking area of the Congress venue. You have to
      pay a fee directly to the hotel.
      Local Transportation in Marseille
      Public transport in the city is well organized. Trams, buses and metro are available. Tickets must
      be purchased in advance at tobacco shops or metro stations.
      Taxis
      You can take a taxi anywhere in the city. You can ask the concierge of your hotel to call one for
      you or you can dial the 04 91 02 20 20.
      Currency, Exchange, Credit Cards
      The official currency in France is the Euro. You can exchange foreign currency in several banks
      and Currency Exchange Businesses. Credit cards are very common in the urban areas. Shops and
      restaurants that normally accept credits cards display a list of these cards on their shop
      windows. It's advisable to carry some cash with, since for small purchases, shops do normally
      prefer to be paid cash. Bank opening hours: Mo - Fri: from 08:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m. and from
      02:30 p.m. to 04:30 p.m. Banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
      Shopping hours
      The usual shopping hours in Marseille are from 09:00 to 19:00; in big shopping centres up to
      21:00. The Centre Bourse, located in the same building of the Congress Venue, has more than
      60 shops, restaurants, bars. You will also find here a supermarket, a Postal office and a Banks.
      It's opening hours are Monday-Saturday: 09:30-19:30.
      Smoking
      Smoking is not allowed inside the Congress buildings, at the venues for the social functions and
      in all public locals in the city. Smokers are kindly required to smoke outdoors or in the smoking
      areas.
      Electricity Supply
      In France electricity is generally supplied at 220 volts and a frequency of 50 Hz. Plugs are
      normally with two or three pins. Plug adaptors or converters might be necessary for those
      coming e.g. from the USA, UK and Japan.
      Telephones
      International calls can be made using any public telephone in the city centre. Please remember to
      dial the international code of the country you want to call to. The dialling code for France +33
      (i.e. if you want to call Marseille you should dial +33 and the telephone number of the person
      you are calling). Pre-paid telephone cards are very easy to use and can be bought in any tobacco
      shop or in newsstands. Do not forget that Emergencies Numbers are free of charge. Phone
      numbers in case of emergency: Ambulance (SAMU): 15; Police: 17; Firework: 18
      Weather
      The average High in October is 21° and the low is 13°. We suggest you to bring a cotton wool
      pullover with you. Rainy days may be expected.
