to keep them warm.
The feathers keep out
the cold because they are
windproof and
waterproof.

             together and change
             places in the huddle.
             They tuck their head
             in their shoulders.

the Winter catching fish.

in the brood pouch.
The chick is not
allowed on the ice.
How do male Emperor penguins
        keep warm?
               They huddle together
               to keep warm. The
               penguins shuffle
               around and take turns
               to get warm in the
               middle of the circle.

               penguins work as a
               team.
How does the Mummy penguin
      find her chick?
When the Mummy
penguin comes back
from the sea she
listens for a special
call from the Daddy
penguin. The little
chick whistles to her
Mummy until she
finds them.
       Who feeds the chick?
The Daddy penguin
feeds the chick when it
is first hatched. When
the Mummy penguin
comes back from the
sea the Mummy feeds
her chick by being
sick in its mouth.
How long does the chick stay in
      the brood pouch?
                The chick stays in the
                  brood pouch for about
                  two months.
