•programmes and below, as well as 4 yr. teacher education
•May establish master’s and PhD degree programme according
•to given criterias, subject to asessment by NOKUT and
•decision by Ministry
•May establish master’s programmes in fields where PhD
•programmes are established

Admission requirements for higher education
General admission requirements:
Certificate from secondary education.
Or
At least 23 years old, 5 years of working experience/child care and 6 core
subjects (Norwegian, English, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social
Sciences and History.)
Or
At least 25 years old and work experience to compensate for the lack of a
secondary school diploma.
Some programmes have additional requirements (Engineering, Teacher
Training, Computer Science, Natural Sciences).

Study Financing
The State Educational Loan Fund provides students with loans and grants.
Secondary school:
Parents are responsible for funding secondary school for their children while
they are in secondary school.
Loans and grants available to students whose parents have low incomes.
Higher Education:
Loans and grants available to students.
Given as a loan. Loans will be converted to grant according to how many
credits have been passed.
40% grant, 60% loan.
Loans and grants for tuition fees abroad.
