Magdalen College School, Oxford Based in the centre of Oxford and within the heart of the University, MCS has all the benefits of an independent day school with campus facilities. The school educates +700 boys between the ages of 7-18. It was the Sunday Times School of the Year in 2008. The school employs outstanding coaches and enjoys many successes in rugby, cricket, hockey and tennis - U14 south of England hockey champions (2009), county hockey U18 and U13 champions (2008), county U12 & U14 cricket champions (2008) and county U19 rugby champions (2007). The school also excels in sailing (national champions 2007 and 2008). A sports academy began in 2008. Many boys represent the County. Music, art and drama are also strong. The school’s academic standards have always placed it prominently in performance tables: last year pupils achieved a 99.6% A level pass rate at Grades A and B, topping the Daily Telegraph’s league table.
