                                                         PRESS RELEASE

                             Earth Moving Equipment
                     2006: BOOM FOR EXPORT
                     AND DOMESTIC MARKET
                           PRODUCTION
This development should continue for at least the next two
                                   years

Growth increased by 12.7% for the production of earth moving machinery,
equipment and parts in 2006, reaching the historic peak of 3.7 billion euro
with continuing prospects for further growth in the neighborhood of 5.5%
per year in 2007 and 2008. Data and prospects were discussed during the
televised press talk broadcast by Sky today on channel 863.

“In 2006 our industrial sector grew” - said Giuseppe Fano – “at a rate six
times higher than the GDP, with a very strong showing in exports (which
amounted to 66% of production). Our contribution to relaunching the
industrial performance of the country can be considered decisive. The
political discussions in recent months make it clear that the government
wants to overcome the infrastructural retardation in our country by
focussing attention on scientific research, that will necessarily require levels
of investment equal to those of the other European countries”

Exports grew too (+22.7% for a total of 2.5 billion euro) which should
increase in 2007 and 2008 by 4.5 and 5.8 percent respectively. Imports,
after reaching 1.2 billion euro in 2006 with a growth rate of +15.6%, are
expected to continue to increase this year by 4.3%, and next year by 3.2%.

The Italian market performed well, as regards sales of domestic and
foreign-made equipment in our country. In 2006 over 28,000 pieces of
equipment were sold (for a value of 1.2 billion euro) with an increase of
9.4%. This year as well, an increase of 5.5% is forecast, followed by a
reduction in growth in 2008 at +2.9%.

In 2006, as regards the individual product lines, the traditional machines
(dozers, excavators, loaders and graders) increased by 6.7%, while mini-
excavators continued their upturn (+9.3%), and skid steer loaders, up by
13.5% - and telescopic handlers (+25%). Dumpers did well (+17.6%); but
backhoes were down by 8.6%. In the equipment sector,
demolition hammers were down by 6.3%, while road equipment like
compactors and finishers were up by 6.6%.

From the macroregional point of view, the north and central parts of the
country showed higher than average increases, respectively by 12.2% and
11.8%; in the south and islands, however, the increases were only in the
area of 0.4% reflecting the still unresolved problems of development that
afflict the southern regions.

At the world level the market shows generally good performance with
growth at 11.4% (over 600,000 units) with increases of 5% expected in
2007, and 5.5% in 2008. Sales in Western Europe (excluding Italy),
increased last year by 14.2% (146,000 units). This increase should
consolidate in 2007 with +2.5% and in 2008 with +3.3%.
