Learn how to find images, video, and music that you

also learn how to license your own creative work that

Leigh Zeitz - Problem-Based Learning Approach to
Using Collaborative Tools
Teach about tools by using them. Dr. Z shares a
collaborative research project that he uses to
introduce Google Docs (Form, Spreadsheet &
Presenter), Twitter, Jing and wikis. Engage your
students in this short research project. It's not about
the tools, it's about the process. (Laptops with VPN
recommended)

Intelectual property. We will discuss how these core
concepts can be implemented within our schools and

Leigh Zetiz - Using Digital Portfolios
Students (& teachers) can share their
accomplishments through their own portfolio. This
workshop will explore using Google Sites to create a
collection of work which is aligned with a set of
standards. We will use ISTE standards for the
workshop but this can be modified to fit other
standards as well. (Laptops with VPN recommended)

                                                        In this session workshop teams of 4-5 will
                                                        'pitch' their ideas for solutions to the main
                                                        theme of 'Our Global Future Living
                                                        Together'. Educators will provide feedback
                                                        with rubric-based criteria and help teams
                                                        work towards the next stage of project
                                                        development. The pitch in this session will
                                                        be largely verbal with some images to
                                                        support the argument presented. Each team
                                                        will receive 3 reviews.

                                                          the Plenary session (up to 4 minutes, 60-90
                                                          sec Animatic included) at which time Phase
                                                          3 voting will occur. This time will be spent
                                                          collecting more resources and creating an
                                                          effective presentation, and rehearsing this to
                                                          be within the time limit. Presentations are to
                                                          be placed on the team wiki. Student

Cohort Session - a chance to hone in on instructional
design for global collaborative projects (include break

Students. - Outcome - Wiki and online documentation

                                                          Plan aka Animatic (Create, Evaluate) - Final
                                                          Presentation
                                                          Educators in the main conference strand are
                                                          invited to hear and review Student Summit
                                                          presentations. Teams will showcase their
                                                          final ideas and pitches via a multimedia
                                                          presentation. Presentations will pitch the
                                                          teams' solution to an identified 'Our Global
                                                          Future Living Together' problem. Solutions
                                                          will have been developed by teams made up
                                                          of workshop participants as well as global
                                                          team members and expert advisors.
                                                          A highlight of this session is the opportunity
                                                          for the audience (local and global) to vote on
                                                          the best three presentations. These featured
                                                          teams will then move into Strand 1 on
                                                          Saturday where they prepare a 'F.L.A.T.'
                                                          (Flat Learning Action Talk) to be presented
                                                          in the Flat Classroom Conference Closing
                                                          Session.

                                                          After voting, students whose teams move to
                                                          video challenge go with Porter/ Guttler,

Two channels will be streamed and virtual
team members and participants will have a

wiki to the teams. In addition an international
vote will determine the top SIX (6) student
teams to then work in Strand A.
Virtual Participant Involvement

Participate with Leigh Zetiz, ADE's, and
Leigh's contingent in determining "best of
show" in closing ceremonies. This group also
plans their 10 minutes of the closing
ceremonies to summarize the learning
experiences.
