PRIMARY SCHOOLS WIND
The Primary Schools’ Wind Ensemble (PSWE) was established by the Instrumental Music
Service in 1987. The purpose of PSWE is to provide an ensemble for DECS primary school
students of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments that challenges and extends their
musical and technical skills, with opportunities to perform in concerts and at venues that most
primary students would not otherwise have.
There is no specific limit to the number of students that may be accepted into PSWE overall.
However, the total quota of some instruments that can be accepted in any given year is
determined by the balance requirements of the ensemble.
Entry to the Primary Schools Wind Ensemble is by audition.
Members are required to:
attend a weekly rehearsal at the Instrumental Music Service – North Office, Hay Street,
Klemzig on Wednesdays 4.30 to 6.00 pm.
participate in rehearsals and performances.
learn the music for rehearsals and performances and seek assistance from individual
instrumental teachers where necessary.
make a positive contribution to the entire team.
Membership cost for PSWE is $55 per year (incl. G.S.T.)
Windcheaters with the PSWE logo are available for a cost of approx. $40.
