I. POSITION TITLE:                 McKenzie County Water Resource District Asst. Manager

    DEPARTMENT                     Water Resource District


II. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    A. Job Summary
        Assisting the McKenzie County Water Resource District (MCWRD) manager with
        operating and maintaining the McKenzie Co. Rural Water Systems as well as
        aiding in development of planned systems within McKenzie County

    B. Supervision Received
        Works under general guidance and supervision of MCWRD manager

    C. Supervision Exercised
        No direct supervision of staff; instead, coordinates with the manager and other
        staff members.

III. GENERAL DUTIES
Assisting the Manager in the operations, functions and activities of the MCWRD.


Primary Duties

Operation and Maintenance of Rural Water Systems
   Assist the manager with monitoring pump stations, water storage reservoirs, and
bulk fill stations. Position will need to maintain water lines and assist contractors while
repairing

GPS and GIS Activities
   Position will need to operate GPS systems and be responsible for One-Call locates.
 Position must learn how to input data in GIS applications and become familiar with
using various computer programs associated with GPS and GIS projects.

Easements
   Position will need to have knowledge of land tracts and be able to write and prepare
easement packets and obtain easements.

Inventory and Ordering
   Position will need to assist manager with keeping an inventory of parts and may
need to order parts if directed by the manager.

Training
    Position will be required to attend various training seminars held throughout the
state to become and stay familiar with various operation and maintenance activities.

Other Duties as assigned by the Manager from the following:

General secretarial duties; including answering telephone, typing correspondence,
reports, forms and other items;

Assist in sampling reports;

Assist in water audits;

Assist with in-home inspections of water systems;

Share on-call duties with manager

Operate a wide variety of office equipment, including telephone system, computers,
typewriters, calculators, postage machine, fax machine, copiers and printers

Assist other departments if needed;

Other tasks as assigned by the Manager

IV.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, record
keeping, filing systems and computer software and systems.

Demonstrable knowledge of computers, computer programs, and various office
machines; in particular, Microsoft applications Word and Excel. Working knowledge of
Quickbooks will be an advantage.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
and the public.

Ability to follow written and verbal requests.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

B. Physical Demands
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 60 pounds.

Ability to ascend and descend small ladders.

C. Working Conditions
Office and/or outdoors.

D. Education & Experience
High School Graduation or equivalent

E. Licensing & Certification (if applicable)
Class 1 Water Operator and Distribution certification within 1 year of applicant being
hired

Valid Driver’s License
