                         Volunteer Profile
Talented Ladies At Work For A Great Cause
The Canadian Comfort and Remembrance Project (a quilt for families of a fallen or severely injured soldier)
was introduced across Canada in the summer of 2006. In the fall, the Comox MFRC joined the cause and
produced its first quilt.

Nada Seles is a volunteer who got involved in that Project without asking questions. Nada moved to Canada
in 1967 with her family and never looked back. She has been living with one of her two daughters, Sgt. Zora
Butler, since 1988. She has five grandchildren and she loves the role of Grandmother.

Nada has enjoyed sewing all her life and likes keeping busy, “I just have fun doing it”, she says. Nada got
involved in the quilt Project because she wanted to give back to her community and knowing that a family of
a fallen or injured soldier will benefit from it, makes all the difference.

Christa Wolst helped finish the quilt and shares the same thoughts about that project. Chista says, “A warm
hug in the way of a quilt to the survivors of something so devastating as the death of a child or loved one just
makes sense to me. Making a quilt gives that warm hug”.

These two ladies are very talented and both care for others, especially military families. It is their way of
saying “thank-you” to soldiers who lost their lives for our country.

We can only say “thank-you very much for your volunteer efforts”.

to the dedication of our many volunteers.

Since September we have hosted or co-hosted seven large events. We started this crazy six month journey
in September by co-hosting Rexspo 2006 with the Fitness, Sports & Recreation Department. October
brought the Family Halloween Party with all the little ghosts and goblins. The MFRC, Fitness, Sports
& Recreation and Wallace Gardens Community Association hosted this great event. November started
with our much anticipated Spa Night and it ended with our Gigantic Indoor Trash to Treasure Garage
Sale. In December we invited everyone to join us and enjoy the holiday season at our annual Christmas
Open House. In February we kicked off the month with the Comox Valley Education and Career Fair and
finished it off by co-hosting the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Challenge Hockey Game with the Comox Air
Force Museum. All this while maintaining all of our regular programs and services.

Our volunteers play a key role in making all of these worthwhile events happen.
Everyone take a bow for a “job well done”.
