Kurt Geiger to Chair Alpha Associates' Advisory Board
Zurich, October 3, 2008

Alpha Associates is pleased to announce that Dr. Kurt Geiger, former Head of Finan-
cial Institutions & Private Equity and Chairman of the Equity Committee of the EBRD,
London, will join the Zurich-based private equity fund-of-funds firm as special adviser
and Chairman of its Advisory Board.

Alpha Associates, which manages the oldest and largest private equity fund-of-funds pro-
gram in Central and Eastern Europe, is further expanding its investments in the region, par-
ticularly in Russia and CIS, where Kurt Geiger's experience and network will be a great as-
set. Central and Eastern Europe and Russia/CIS have been the highest returning private
equity markets in the world over the past five years, outperforming all other emerging mar-
kets as well as Western Europe and the United States.

Kurt Geiger has been with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for 15
years. As Business Group Director for Financial Institutions & Private Equity and Member of
its Senior Management, he led a great number of successful investments in financial institu-
tions in Central & Eastern Europe and Russia/CIS and has built EBRD's private equity funds
investment program into the largest in the region. He joined the EBRD after a distinguished
career of more than 30 years in international finance. Dr. Geiger enjoys a high reputation
with leading figures in the financial services industry and government officials in- and outside
the region and has been a thought leader on shaping the private equity industry in the region.

Peter Derendinger, CEO of Alpha Associates Ltd., said: "We are very pleased to work with
Kurt Geiger. His outstanding experience and network will benefit our investment programs in
the region and contribute significant value for our investors." Kurt Geiger said: "I look forward
to supporting Alpha's growth strategy, in particular in Russia & CIS, the largest, and still a
largely untapped market for growth equity, where the risk/return profile is very compelling."

About EBRD
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was established in 1991 when communism was crum-
bling in Central and Eastern Europe and ex-Soviet countries needed support to nurture a new private sector in a
democratic environment. Today the EBRD uses the tools of investment to help build market economies and de-
mocracies in countries from Central Europe to central Asia. The EBRD is the largest single investor in the region
and mobilises significant foreign direct investment beyond its own financing. It is owned by 61 countries and two
intergovernmental institutions. But despite its public sector shareholders, it invests mainly in private enterprises,
usually together with commercial partners. www.ebrd.com
