      THE BIO-ALCAMID
         DEFINITION

• It is a new macromolecular substance
  ( poly-alchyl-imyde) obtained from an
  elaboration of the polyacrylamide (not
enough safe in medicine because of
  neurotoxic and carcinogenic)
    WHAT IS BIO-ALCAMID ?
• It is a reticular polymer compound of apyrogenic
   water (97%) and
     POLY-ALCHYL-IMYDE (3%)
• It is Hydrophilic
• It is same consistency of a gel
• It is an endoprosthesis
• It is an Italian research’s product
 (from POLYMEKON -Italia- )
     What is not BIO-ALCAMID
• It is NOT a METHACRYLATE
• It is NOT POLYACRYLAMIDE
• It does NOT migrate
• It is NOT toxic
• It is NOT be confused with a competing
    similar substances (Interfall, Royamid,
    Kosmogel, Russian Polyacrylamide,
    Russian Formacril etc,)
          The polyacrylamide
         (without modification)
•It was used in • the problem
• Cosmetic surgery
                           • reabsorption
• Reconstructive surgery
                           • infection
                           • chronic inflammation
                           • neurotoxicity (great. vol.)
                           • carcinogenesis
                                (experimental animals)
                               Because is not stable and
                               release very dangerous
                               monomeric’s units
          The polyacrylamide
         (without modification)

                           • neurotoxicity (great. vol.)
                           • carcinogenesis
                                (experimental animals)
                               Because is not stable and
                               release very dangerous
                               monomeric’s units
          What are the differences ?
• Bio-Alcamid gets a great number of cross-links
because of a singular productive process
• It is sterile
• It is permanent because of the chemical and
  physical stability
• It doesn’t release monomer units
• Exist two form : “lips” and “body” (not dilution)
• A thin (0,2mm) and permanent capsula developed
around it and so became a prosthesis
• It is CE marked (TUV-0123)
                 PROPERTIES
• It is biocompatible (it got through all the
  biocompatibility examinations )
• it isn’t carcinogenic (Ames test)
• it is permanent and stable (chemical and physical)
• it doesn’t need of tests
• it is Rx-transparent
• it is possible to remove it (easy!)

- In fact a thin fibrous membrane develops around it
and keep it in situ in a single mass -
Why you can remove it ?

• Because ,after the injection, develops
around the substance a very thin permanent
membrane (about 0,2 mm), so it begin like a
  prosthesis
                              Use
       FACE BODY

• Small quantities (< 5cc): • Large quantities (> 5 cc)

small sunken scars, lips, hypovolumetries of cheeks,
asimmetries and groves emyathrophies of the face,
  post-rhinoplasty, wrinkles, post-liposuction hollow,
  ecc. Poland syndrome, Pectus
                                  exscavatum, big scars,
                                  hypovolumetries of buttocks
                                  ecc.
             It not be use :
• Periorbicular wrinkles
• Small perilip’s wrinkles
• small post-acne scars
• Breast augmentation (there is not yet a good
  research)
• If there is infection in situ
• When in the lips there is liquid-siloxane
  implant or liquid PTFE implant
             COMPLICATIONS
• Infections : (0,01%)

• gravitational move :
one case in a very thin skin
WHERE I MUST INJECT IT ?

• RIGOROUSLY HYPODERMIC

• DON’T INJECT IN THE MUSCLE OR IN
  THE MUCOUS
     Don’t forget:
