All times are approximate. Please listen for announcements to be made.
Post Entries for Racing are only to fill heats and must be entered the day before the racing event.
Friday at 5:00 pm closes for Saturday classes and 5:00 pm Saturday for Sunday Classes.

Every effort has been made to schedule classes so that you may enter as many as possible. While we do our
best to accommodate, classes will not be held up and no refunds will be given for missed classes. Class conflicts
may occur so please be aware of you entries.

Ribbons are awarded in all classes 1st – 6th place. Prizes and ribbons are awarded for Best and Championship
Classes.

                         IMPORTANT NOTES AND RULES
             Please familiarize yourself with the notes and rules listed below.

As of January 1, 2010, all terriers must be either registered or recorded
with the JRTCA. If your terrier has not been registered or recorded you
will have to pay an additional $5/dog/day extra.
You will still have to pay the normal $2/dog/day JRTCA Adm. Fee.
Both fees are to be turned into the JRTCA.

   NO RACING POST ENTRIES on the day of the event.

   Every effort will be made to start Trial events on time. Dogs late to racing or conformation will be
    scratched. Every effort has been made to schedule trial events such that exhibitors may enter as
    many classes as possible. However, several events must be run concurrently, thus some conflicts
    are unavoidable. It is the responsibility of the EXHIBITOR to be aware of the scheduled classes
    and be on time for the classes they have entered.

   The trial committee is not responsible for conflicts with classes that may arise and classes will not
    be held up for these conflicts. Please carefully review the class list and agenda and plan your
    entries accordingly. No refunds will be made for missed classes!!

   CHILDREN must remain under adult supervision at all times.

   For their own protection, NO PUPPIES under 12 weeks of age are permitted on the
    trial grounds FOR ANY REASON.

   ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY 05/16/2011. All entries postmarked after
    05/16/2011 will be considered post entries and will be charged accordingly. No Exceptions!! NO
    PHONE ENTRIES.

   RINGSIDE SPACE is available for the weekend for $30.00 for a 10 X 10 space.

   SPONSORSHIPS: Please sign up to sponsor a class. Sponsors help to pay for the cost of
    ribbons, trophies, judges and other show expenses. See enclosed sponsorship forms.

   MEASUREMENT of borderline-sized terriers will be performed by the conformation judge or
    their designee in the conformation ring prior to the start of Conformation classes. Measurements
    made at this time will be considered the terriers’ official height for the duration of the trial.

   RACING MEASUREMENTS: Measurement of borderline-sized terriers or disputed terriers
    will be performed by a sanctioned judge at the racetrack between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM.
    Measurements made at this time will be considered the terriers’ official height for the duration of
    racing.

   CERTIFICATES: PLEASE NOTE: Include copies of the necessary certificates with your pre-
    entries for the Working Division, GTG, or Super Earth. The entry secretary makes no
    assumptions. If the appropriate certificate is not included you will be entered in the open class –
    NOT the certificate class.

   It is the intent of club members to provide a trial which is enjoyable for all participants. As a
    result, UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED at any time during
    the trail. Anyone demonstration poor sportsmanship, rude behavior, causing trouble in any
    manor will be dismissed from all classes and asked to leave the trial grounds. No refunds in this
    situation.

   PLEASE REMEMBER TO PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOGS while on the trial site! Thank you

                       GENERAL RULES FOR EXHIBITORS
GENERAL RULES FOR EXHIBITORS
1. All sanctioned classes are open to Jack Russell Terriers only.

2. Exhibitors and owners of terriers entered must be current JRTCA members and must
not be a member of a conflicting JRT
organization or register their JRTs in any all-breed registry or conflicting JRT
organization registry. If an exhibitor is found to be
in violation of this policy, entry will be disqualified and no refunds given. If a violation is
confirmed after the trial, placements
will be voided from all JRTCA records. Exhibitors must submit a completed entry form
including a signed waiver for every trial
they enter.

3. Entries MUST be within the 10” to 15” JRTCA height standard for all sanctioned
classes (with exception of pups who have not yet
met the 10” height standard); measuring devices will be available at the trial site.

4. Puppies (under 12 months) are not eligible for championship in any division but their
own. Puppies are eligible to compete only
if they have reached their four-month birthday (not 16 weeks). A puppy’s age is the
actual age the pup is on the day of the
trial.

5. Bitches in season may not compete in any division. Pre-entry fees of bitches in season
will be refunded with a veterinarian
certificate, or as otherwise agreed upon by the Trial Chairperson.

6. Spay or neutered terriers may compete in Miscellaneous Conformation. They may not
compete in Puppy, Family, Open or
Working Conformation. Note: For Family Classes, Brood Bitches and Stud Dogs entered
may not be spayed/neutered. The
offspring at their sides may be intact or spayed/neutered.

7. A terrier bred by a sanctioned JRTCA Judge may not be shown under that Judge in the
conformation division.

8. Terriers owned or co-owned by the Trial Chairperson, or any member of their
household, may not be entered in any phase of the
competition, with the exception of Child and Youth Handling classes.

9. Terriers owned by judges may not be entered in the division in which they are
judging, but may enter the competition in any
other division.

10. Terriers owned by stewards may be entered in any division provided that they find a
substitute to perform their duties or have
someone else show their terriers.

11. Requests for the measurement of a terrier being shown in any class may be made
only by another exhibitor in that class or by
the Judge. These measurements will be considered the official height of the terrier in
question. Requests made by spectators
will not be honored. Only JRTCA height cards issued after September 1999 will be
honored.

12. Excessive use of squeaky or fur-like baiting devices by exhibitors is prohibited and
may result in the exhibitor being excused
from the class. “Excessive use” will be at the Judge’s discretion.

13. Exhibitors participating in the JRTCA Working Terrier classes or Certificate Go-To-
Ground must submit the appropriate JRTCA
certificates with pre-entries or at the time of post-entry. The Judge may require a copy
of the certificate be presented to the
Ring/Den steward at time of judging. Registered terriers may submit a copy of NHC
application signed by a JRTCA Working
Judge within 30 days of the dates it was issued.

14. Puppies under the age of three months are not permitted on the trial grounds. Any
person violating this rule will be excused
from all classes entered, and asked to leave the trial site.

15. All dogs must be leashed or crated except when competition requires off-leash work.
No liberty leashes allowed.

16. Overly aggressive dogs, or an owner’s failure to control their dog, may result in
disqualification at the discretion of the Judges or
the Trial Chairperson.

17. The abuse or severe disciplining of dogs on the trial grounds is prohibited. Anyone
displaying such behavior will be asked to
leave the trial site, and no entry fees will be refunded.

18. Dogs other than JRTs on the grounds may be excluded or permitted at the discretion
of the Trial Chairperson.

19. Exhibitors are responsible to double-check the classes they have entered and be on
time. No refunds will be given for missed
classes.

20. The owner/handler of a terrier entering any class does so at his/her own risk and
agrees to abide by the rules of the JRTCA and
the trial. A copy of the JRTCA Rule Book can be obtained by contacting the JRTCA office
(410-561-3655) or it can be
downloaded from the JRTCA website (www.terriers.com).

21. Unsportsmanlike conduct, or the use of foul and abusive language, will not be
tolerated. Anyone demonstrating such conduct

will be asked to leave the trial site and no entry fees will be refunded. In addition, such
conduct will be subject to penalties
which may include the suspension of membership, restriction from entering the JRTCA
National Trial, and/or fines. Trial
Chairpersons have the right to refuse any entry at their discretion.

22.THE JUDGE’S DECISION CONCERNING PLACEMENTS ARE FINAL IN ALL
DIVISIONS!!!!

                                          Division A – Racing
 Terriers must run in flat & steeplechase races to compete in championships.
 No cross entering between regular adult classes and veteran classes or sanctioned and
  non-sanctioned classes.
 No cross entering between Veterans & Seniors. Seniors run over low hurdles, up to 8”.
 ALL TERRIERS MUST BE MUZZLED! Plastic basket muzzles or closed-ended cloth
  muzzles only. No figure eight or open-ended muzzles.
 Novice Racing Terriers do not qualify for Championship classes.
 4 to 6 month puppies do not qualify for Puppy Championship classes.

Class 1:    Pups, 4 to 6 months (non-sanctioned)
Class 2:    Pups, 6 up to 9 months, up to 12 ½”

Class 37:    10” up to 12½” Adult Championship. Open to 1st place winners of classes 6, 8, 28, 30
Class 38:    Over 12½” up to 15” Adult Championship. Open to 1st place winners of classes 7, 9, 29, 31
Class 39:    Veterans, 10” up to 12½”, Championship. Open to 1st place winners of classes 10, 32
Class 40:    Veterans, over 12½” up to 15”, Championship. Open to 1st place winners of classes 11, 33



                                       DIVISION B: GO-TO-GROUND

 NOTE:        In the event of a tie, the tie shall be broken by a run-off; the best time shall determine the winner.

Class 42:     Pre-Novice Puppy. Open to Jack Russell Terrier Puppies 4 up to 6 months. Entry in Pre-Novice Puppy
              class does not affect the puppy’s eligibility to enter the Novice Class after 6 months of age. (One minute to
              reach quarry; mark quarry for 15 seconds; may leave earth and re-enter.)

Class 43:     Novice Puppy: Open to Jack Russell Terrier Puppies 6 up to 12 months which have not scored 100% in
              this class at a previous JRTCA trial. Entries earning a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of the
              entry fee, enter the Open Puppy Class at this trial. (One minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-
              enter several times; work quarry for 30 seconds.)

Class 44:     Open Puppy. Open to Jack Russell Terriers Puppies 6 up to 12 months which have scored 100% in a Nov-
              ice Go-To-Ground class at this or a previous JRTCA trial. Not open to any puppies which have previously
              achieved 100% in this class. Puppies earning a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of the entry
              fee, enter the Puppy Championship GTG class at this trial. (30 seconds to reach quarry; may leave earth
              once and re-enter; work quarry for one minute.)

Class 45:     Puppy Championship. Open to Jack Russell Terrier Puppies, 6 up to 12 months which have earned 100%
              in an Open Go-To-Ground class at this or a previous JRTCA trial. A copy of a 100% Open score sheet
              shall be submitted with pre-entry or be shown to the Den Steward at the time of the class. First and second
              place winners will be Puppy Go-To-Ground Champion and Reserve. (30 seconds to reach quarry; may
              leave earth once and re-enter; work quarry for one minute.)

Class 46:     Novice Adult. Open to Jack Russell Terriers 1 year or older who have not scored 100% in this class at a
              previous JRTCA trial. Entries who earn a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of entry fee, enter
              the Open Adult class at this trial. (1 minute to reach quarry, work quarry for 30 seconds. May leave earth
              once and re-enter, work quarry for one minute.)

Class 47:     Open Adult. Open to Jack Russell Terriers one year or older which have scored 100% in a Novice Go-To-
              Ground class at this or a previous JRTCA trial. (30 seconds to reach quarry; may leave earth once and re-
              enter; work quarry for one minute.)



Go-To-Ground Championship Certificates

Open to JRTs 1 year and over which holds a JRTCA Trial Certificate. A copy of the certificate must be submitted with
pre-entry or be shown to the Den Steward at the time of the class. First and second place winners will be Go-To-Ground
Champion and Reserve. (30 seconds to reach quarry; must not leave earth, work quarry for 1 minute.)

Class 48:     10 up to 12½” Championship Certificate.
Class 49:     Over 12½ up to 15” Championship Certificate.
Class 50:     Veteran Champion Certificate, 10 up to 12½”. )
Class 51:     Veteran Champion Certificate, Over 12 ½” up to 15”.




                              DIVISION C: SUPER EARTH (Sanctioned)
30 seconds per 30 feet of tunnel to reach quarry; may leave and re-enter earth; work quarry for one minute.

Class 52:     Super Earth 6 up to 12 month JRT Puppy
Class 53:     Super Earth, 10 up to 12½”. Open to JRT’s one year and older.
Class 54:     Super Earth, Over 12½ up to 15”. Open to JRT’s one year and older.
Class 55:     Super Earth Veteran, 10 up to 12½”. Open to JRT’s six years and older.
Class 56:     Super Earth Veteran, Over 12½ up to 15”. Open to JRT’s six years and older.

Super Earth Championship Certificates

Open to JRTs 1 year and older, which hold a JRTCA Super Earth Trial Certificate. A copy of the Certificate must be
submitted with pre-entry or be shown to the Den Steward at the time of the Class. First and second place winners will be
Super Earth Champion and Reserve.

Class 57:     Super Earth, Adult Certificate, 10 up to 12 ½”
Class 58:     Super Earth, Adult Certificate, Over 12 ½ to 15”
Class 59:     Super Earth, Veteran Certificate, 10 up to 12 ½”
Class 60:     Super Earth, Veteran Certificate, Over 12 ½” to 15”

Please Note: Child/Youth handler classes # 115 and 116 will be the first conformation classes each morning

Class 62:     Dog Pups, 4 up to 6 months, rough/broken.
Class 63:     Bitch Pups, 4 up to 6 months, smooth.
Class 64:     Bitch Pups, 4 up to 6 months, rough/broken.
Class 65:     Best 4 up to 6 Month Puppy Champion & Reserve
              Open to the 1st and 2nd place winners of classes 61, 62, 63, 64. No entry fee.
Section 2: 6-12 Month Puppy Conformation
Class 66:     Dog Pups, 6 up to 9 months, smooth.
Class 67:     Dog Pups, 6 up to 9 months, rough/broken.
Class 68:     Dog Pups, 9 up to 12 months, smooth.
Class 69:     Dog Pups, 9 up to 12 months, rough/broken.

Section 3: JRTCA Working Terrier Conformation
Open to any JRTCA registered terrier owned by a JRTCA member which, holds a JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate.
Terriers entering the Working Section may not cross-enter into the Open Section; no cross-entering is permitted within
the Working Section.

Class 77:     Bronze Medallion Dog. Open to any dog, which has earned the JRTCA Bronze Medallion for Special
              Merit in the Field.
Class 78:     Bred by Exhibitor Working Terrier Dog. Open to any Working Jack Russell Terrier owned and bred by
              the exhibitor under whose kennel prefix the terrier is registered; must be handled by the breeder or a
              member of the breeder’s immediate family.
Class 79:     Working Terrier Dog, 10 up to 12½”, smooth
Class 80:     Working Terrier Dog, 10 up to 12½”, rough/broken
Class 81:     Working Terrier Dog, over 12½ up to 15”, smooth

Section 5: Family
Class 105:   Stud Dog & Get. Open to a sire with at least two, but not more than three offspring at parent’s side.
             Judged on Breed Standard and consistency of type. Stud Dog must be an intact male. Offspring may be
             intact or spayed/neutered.
Class 106:   Brood Bitch & Produce. Open to a dam with at least two, but not more than three offspring at parent’s
             side. Judged on Breed Standard and consistency of type. Brood bitch must be an intact female. Offspring
             may be intact or spayed/neutered.
Class 107:   Best Family & Reserve. Open to 1st and 2nd place winners in classes 104 & 105. No entry fee.


Section 6: Miscellaneous
Open to any adult JRT including those spayed & neutered judged on breed standard unless otherwise noted.

Class 108:    Spayed/Neutered Working Terrier. Open to any adult Spayed/Neutered Jack
              Russell Terrier, which holds a JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate
Class 109:    Spayed/Neutered Terrier. Open to any adult Spayed/Neutered JRT.
Class 110:    Colored Terrier. Open to colored terriers other than a JRT.
Class 111:    Three Generations Breeders’ Class. Open to a minimum of three successive
              generations of JRT breeding; the exhibitor must have breed the second & successive
              generations. Judged on conformation and improvement with each generation. Class
Class 112:    Pairs Class. Open to any two adult JRT’s, judged on conformation and
              matching appearance. Terriers do not have to be owned by the same person, but
              may have only one handler in the ring per pair.




Section 7: Suitability
The dog the judge would choose to take hunting to each of the quarry listed below.

Class 113:    Suitability to Red Fox
Class 114:    Suitability to Groundhog
Class 115:    Suitability to Raccoon/Badger
Class 116:    Toolbox – Open to handler with three adult Jack Russell Terriers at side, one suitable to each quarry (fox,
              groundhog, raccoon/badger). Placement based on the group the judge would choose to take hunting.


                                             DIVISION E: YOUTH
The Child/Youth Handler must handle the SAME terrier in all Child/Youth Division classes entered. The intention of this
division is for the Child/Youth to have a positive experience. They should have basic knowledge of the history of the
Jack Russell Terrier, as well as the events that they are entering. Neither Child/Youth nor terrier are expected to be
perfect. A good attitude and a smile will go a long way towards impressing the judges and youth coordinator. Terriers
entered in the Child/Youth Division (Division E) and GTG Division (B) must run in GTG Division B first both days.
Fees for Child/Youth classes are $20 per day for all 3 classes. Child classes open to members aged 5 though 9.

Youth classes are open to members 10 through 16. The Child/Youth’s age is determined by their age as of January 1 of
current calendar year. Handlers must compete in a minimum of Child/Youth Handling & Child/Youth GTG to qualify for
the Child/Youth High Score and Reserve. Child/Youth High Score and Reserve is being offered on Saturday & Sunday.
If the Child/Youth handler is interested in competing for the High Score award, they must enter in the minimum required
classes offered in their division for BOTH Saturday and Sunday. A tie will be broken by a handling class to be held in the
conformation ring, with the judge to be decided by the trial administrator.

Class 117:    Child Handler. Open to any youth aged 5 through 9, handling a Jack Russell Terrier, six months of age or
              older. This class is offered as an introductory experience in handling and learning about the Jack Russell
              Terrier. Judged on child’s ability to present his/her dog and beginning knowledge of the Jack Russell.
              Quality of the dog NOT to be considered.
Class 118:    Child Handler, Go-To-Ground. Open to any child aged 5 though 9 handling a Jack Russell Terrier.
              Judged on the ability of the child to present his/her dog and knowledge of Go-To-Ground. To be run
              through the 10-foot Novice tunnel; time not to be considered. Non-Sanctioned
Class 119:    Child Handler, Hi-Score & Reserve. Awarded to the highest scoring child and runner up in Classes 104
              & 105. Points are awarded as follows: 1st = 6 pts; 2nd = 4 pts; 3rd = 3 pts; 4th = 2 pts and participation = 1
              pt. (Non-Sanctioned)
Class 120:    Youth Handler. Open to any youth aged 10 through 16, handling a Jack Russell Terrier. Judged on the
              youth’s ability to present his/her dog and knowledge of the Jack Russell Terrier. Quality of the dog is NOT
              to be considered.

Class 121:   Youth G-T-G. Open to any youth aged 10 through 16, handling a Jack Russell Terrier. Judged on the
             youth’s ability to present his/her dog and knowledge of Go-To-Ground. To be run through the 10-foot
             Novice liner; time not to be considered.
Class 122:   Youth Handler High Score and Reserve. Awarded to the highest scoring youth and runner-up in classes
             118 & 119. The points are awarded as follows: 1st=8 points, 2nd=6 points, 3rd=5 points, 4th=4 points, 5th=3 points,
             6th=2 points and participation=1 point


                                 DIVISION F: BARN HUNT (non-sanctioned)
Class 123:     The terrier is timed form the release at the starting line until the handler signals that the quarry is
              found. The handler may not enter the fenced area, and may not give hand signals or any
              encouragement for 1 minute. After 1 minute has passed the handler may use hand signals or
              encouragement but must still remain behind the fence. Maximum time allowed 2 minutes.

                  Ribbons are awarded 1st – 6th place.
