Australian Customs and Border Protection Service

The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service is Australia's primary border
protection agency. For this purpose our border extends into Australia's Exclusive
Economic Zone where we have a key role in addressing threats to our environment.
In performing our role we work closely with a range of agencies, often exercising
powers on their behalf, at other times working with them to complement each others
capabilities and powers.
Together we are called upon to provide a sense of security to the community,
supporting the continuation of the Australian lifestyle.

How the Role Contributes to Customs and Border Protection Outcomes

The Senior Basis Administrator performs a critical role in maintaining the health and
ongoing operation of the SAP enterprise Human Resource Management environment,
enabling reliable and efficient management of agency human resource assets.

The Job

The occupant of this position will take responsibility for managing the maintenance
activities associated with the agencies SAP environment that supports Human
Resource Management. The SAP environment runs on a UNIX/Oracle platform.

You will have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong teamwork
skills with a commitment to applying best practice to the management and support of
the Customs and Border Protection SAP environment.

The occupant is also required to establish strong relationships with stakeholders and
service delivery providers to ensure effective administration of the agencies SAP
landscape.

Key Responsibilities
      Provide SAP technical support including the resolution of assigned service
       requests.
      Manage and undertaking the maintenance activities associated with SAP for the
       Agencies’ HR system, including SAP ECC6, Enterprise Portal, Business
       Warehouse and Solution Manager on Netweaver release 700 and upwards
       (ABAP and JAVA stack).
      Undertake system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and
       maintenance patching and new version installation.
      Provide environment migration support including moving objects between
       environments within the SAP landscape and trouble-shooting SAP transport
       management issues.
      Developing, maintaining and reporting compliance with standard processes,
       including processes for design and documentation in accordance with SAP and
       organisation standards.

      Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with process owners,
       technical staff and vendors.

Technical – This criterion is to reflect any essential qualifications or specialist
skills required to undertake the job.

Demonstrated relevant technical knowledge qualification or experience to:
 Provide system support and maintenance on SAP systems running on a
  UNIX/ORACLE platform, including system monitoring, application of patches &
  support packs, transports, basic user administration, investigation and resolution of
  issues, backup / restore, system copy / refresh.
 Apply best practise maintenance and support procedures to the agencies SAP
  landscape
