Tire is a device that covers the rim of a wheel. Tires are an important part of the ground
vehicles, and is used to reduce vibrations caused by road surface irregularities, to protect the
wheel from wear and damage, as well as provide stability between the vehicle and the ground to
improve acceleration and ease of movement.
Most tires are now, especially those used for motor vehicles, manufactured from synthetic
rubber, although it can also be used from other materials such as steel.
In 1839, Charles Goodyear discovered vulcanization techniques of rubber. Vulcanisation itself
comes from the word which is the fire god Vulcan in the Roman religion. At first, Goodyear did
not call his invention by the name of vulcanized rubber but fireproof. In appreciation of his
services, Goodyear's name immortalized as the name of the famous rubber company in the
United States of Goodyear Tire and Rubber company founded by Frank Seiberling in 1898.
