Tire is a device that covers the rim of a wheel. Tires are an important part of the ground
vehicles, and is used to reduce vibrations caused by road surface irregularities, to protect the
wheel from wear and damage, as well as provide stability between the vehicle and the ground to
improve acceleration and ease of movement.

Most tires are now, especially those used for motor vehicles, manufactured from synthetic
rubber, although it can also be used from other materials such as steel.

Tire history

In 1839, Charles Goodyear discovered vulcanization techniques of rubber. Vulcanisation itself
comes from the word which is the fire god Vulcan in the Roman religion. At first, Goodyear did
not call his invention by the name of vulcanized rubber but fireproof. In appreciation of his
services, Goodyear's name immortalized as the name of the famous rubber company in the
United States of Goodyear Tire and Rubber company founded by Frank Seiberling in 1898.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company started up in 1898 when Frank Seiberling purchased the
company's first plant using money he borrowed from one-in-law.

In 1845 Thomson and Dunlop tires or created at the time called life aka tire tire air cavity. So
called Mr Thomson and Dunlop Tires. With the development of technology Charles Kingston
Welch found an inner tube, while William Erskine Bartlett found the outside tire.
Types of Tires

Bias Tires
Tires with bias structure is the most widely used. Made of many pieces of cord are used as the
framework of the tire. Cord woven zig-zag manner to form an angle of 40 to 65 degree angle to
the tire circumference.
Radial Tires
For radial tires, construction carcass cord forms an angle of 90 degree angle to the tire
circumference. So viewed from the side cord construction is in the radial direction towards the
center or crown of the tire. Part of the tire in direct contact with the road surface strengthened by
a kind of harness called "Breaker" or the "Belt". Tire of this type only suffered little deformation
in the form of centrifugal force, albeit at high speed. Radial tires also have a "Rolling
Resistance" is small.
Tubeless tire

Tubeless tire is a tire designed without having an inner tube. In tubeless tires were created
around 1990.

Parts of the tire

Tire tread is the part that serves to protect the tire from the collisions, punctures from outside
objects that can berusak tires. Tread made many patterns, called Pattern.
Breaker and the Belt is the yarn layer (on the regular tires are made of textiles, while the radial
tire is made of wire) is placed between the tread and casing. Serves to protect and reduce
collisions on Tread not directly absorbed by the casing.
Casing is a layer-forming yarn is the order of tires and tires that hold air in order to sustain high-
pressure tires.
Bead is a bundle of wires held together by a hard rubber and serves as anchor attached to the
rim.
