 Teachers’/Performing Artists’ Tour of New York
             24.9.2011 – 4.10.2011
                       In Conjunction with Drama Victoria
Day 1 Saturday 24 Sept (Dinner in New York)

Morning: We meet at Melbourne International Airport for our Qantas Airlines flight to LA & New York.
On arrival in New York we will be transferred to our hotel.
Evening: Official welcome supper.
Edison (8 nts).

Day 2 Sunday 25 Sept (Breakfast & Dinner)

Morning: Circle Line Boat Tour of Manhattan Island.

Afternoon: The Broadway Flea Market, held only in September in Shubert Alley,
brings out the biggest and brightest stars from Broadway, Off-Broadway, Dance
and daytime television to greet fans and sell costume pieces, autographs, original
scripts, rare photographs, and so much more. The highlight of the Flea Market is
the Grand Auction, in which singular items and opportunities such as walk-on roles
in Broadway shows, television programs and films are available to the highest
bidder. All proceeds go to Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS.

Evening: After Dinner we end our first day with our first show PROMISES, PROMISES the smart and
sexy musical based on the Oscar®-winning Billy Wilder film, The Apartment.

Day 3 Monday 26 Sept (Breakfast & Dinner)

Morning: NBC Studio & Radio City Music Hall Tours. Taking you through the halls and into the NBC
studios themselves. The Radio City Music Hall Tour reflects the original grandeur of opening night in
1932. We meet and talk with one of the world- famous Radio City Rockettes!
Afternoon: Meeting the Actors!! An opportunity to meet with some of the famous names on Broadway
and find out how they „made it‟. As well as exploring what it is like to be working in such a vibrant
performing arts culture.

Evening: Dinner and then off to a Jazz Club

Day 4 Tuesday 27 Sept (Breakfast & Dinner)

Morning: Tour of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The Theater grew from a now-fabled
performance in March 1958, at the 92nd Street Young Men's Hebrew Association in New York. Led by
Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance changed forever
the perception of American dance. We then visit the LINCOLN CENTER THEATER. This magnificent
complex is home to organisations such as The Juilliard School, Metropolitan Opera, School of American
Ballet and the New York Philharmonic

Afternoon: A moving visit to Ground Zero. While in the area we will also take you to the NY bargain
outlet department store Century 21.

Evening: Dinner and Show 2 Alvin Ailey‟s 50 Anniversary Show – REFLECTIONS (or similar)

Day 5 Wed 28 Sept (Breakfast)

Morning: Audition Masterclass for Teachers of Acting/Theatre. What Directors, Producers and Drama
Schools are looking for from potential students.

Afternoon: This afternoon you are free to explore, shop or catch your breath. Activities suggestions will
be provided by your Theatrica Guide.

Evening: Dinner at your own leisure. Show 3 NEXT TO NORMAL – 2010 Pulitzer Prize Winner for
Drama.

After the show we will visit Juniors for you to purchase one of New York‟s iconic Cheesecakes –
claimed to be the Best Cheesecake in the World!!!!

Day 6 Thursday 29 Sept (Breakfast & Dinner)

Morning: This morning we will take you to the Lower East Side where you will have some time to
explore Chinatown, Soho, Little Italy and Greenwich Village.

Afternoon: VIP guided tour of Madison Square Garden

Evening: Show 4 HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING – starring Daniel
Radcliffe

Day 7 Friday 30 Sept (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Performing Arts Workshops and Seminars.
These include talks from Producers, Directors, Stage Mangers and workshops in Dance, Acting,
Singing, Costume and Make-up, to name but a few areas.

Evening: Show 5 BLOODY, BLOODY.

Day 8 Sat 1 Oct (Breakfast & Dinner)

We will start our day near Herald Square where you will have an opportunity for a bit of shopping in
Macy‟s, Victoria Secret, Barnes and Noble etc.

Matinee: Show 6 MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

Evening: Top of the Rock. After dinner we will see the lights of New York from the Observation Deck
on the 70th floor of the Rockefeller Center in the heart of midtown Manhattan. This is our opportunity to
truly see the City of New York sparkle. A night walk down 5th Avenue including a chance to do you last
minute shopping in Times Square.

Day 9 Sunday 2 Oct (Breakfast)

Hotel check out. We then depart by private charter coach for an exciting full day tour of New York City.

Morning: Lower East Side Tenement Museum
This "living history" apartment is based on the Sephardic-Jewish Confino Family from Kastoria. A
costumed interpreter dressed as teenage Victoria Confino circa 1916 welcomes visitors as though they
were newly arrived immigrants, teaching them how to adapt to America. Followed by a walk across
Brooklyn Bridge. We then continue our journey to Central Park including the Dakota Building and
Strawberry Fields.

Evening: JFK Airport for our flight home (Option to stay in NY or LA for those wanting to extend their
holiday).

Day 10 Mon 3 Oct
Crossing the International Date Line.

Day 11 Tuesday 4 Oct
Arrive back in Melbourne.

Day 1 Sun 2 Oct

We arrive in LA at night and are transferred to our hotel Marina Del Rey, Marriott (3 nights).

Day 2 Mon 3 Oct (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Morning: It is off to Venice Beach, Century City, Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade for some
shopping and to have a walk on the famous Santa Monica Pier and then it is off to lunch with the
wonderful Ed Asner.*

Afternoon: Warner Bros VIP Tour. See “Behind-the scenes and “into-the-scenes” of your favorite
shows and movies at the world‟s busiest motion picture and television studio.

Evening: Dinner at Mel’s Diner (of American Graffiti fame) followed by a night of comedy at a Comedy
Club on Sunset Boulevard.

Day 3 Tues 4 Oct (Breakfast & Dinner)

Morning: Four hour city tour that will take us past Sony Studio‟s (formerly Columbia) and Fox Studios
to Century City before making stops at Graumans Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Boulevard, The
Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards) and Amoeba Records. This will be followed by
exclusive tours of New Wave Entertainment and Todd-AO (Two of the most successful post
production working studios in Hollywood).

Evening: Dinner at the Hotel Restaurant – followed by Guest Speaker, Georgia Van Cuylenburg –
award winning Comedienne/Actress. “Topic; Australian Performers in LA, and how to “make it” in
Hollywood.

Day 4 Wed 5 Oct (Breakfast and Dinner)

Morning: After breakfast we will check out of our Hotel and spend our final morning at the J. Paul
Getty Museum at the Getty Center which is home to many famous European paintings, sculptures,
manuscripts, and European and American photographs.

Afternoon: It is then off to Century City to pick up any last minute gifts or shopping.

Evening: Dinner and Seminar at the home of Emmy Award winning Hollywood Director and Writer Ben
Lewin and his wife, Documentary Film Maker Judy Levine (both of whom are Australian).

Night: LAX for our QANTAS QF94 flight back to Melbourne.

Day 5 Thurs 6 Oct
Crossing the International Date Line.

Day 6 Fri 7 Oct
Arrive back in Melbourne.
