1999 to 2006 ‐ Special Prosecutor , Special Prison Prosecution Unit– Responsible for
investigation, grand jury presention, trials and appeals of crimes which occur on prison property,
including inmates assaulting guards, guards assaulting inmates, escapes, murders, sexual
offenses, and theft and fraud cases involving TDCJ. Tried 33 jury trial felony cases involving
prison crime.
1998 to 1999 ‐ Deputy District Attorney – District Attorney’s Office – 278th Judicial District,
Anderson, Texas. Litigated felony and misdemeanor offenses in Grimes County, Texas. Eight
felony jury trials. Responsible for all phases of prosecution.
1995 to 1998 – Deputy District Attorney ‐ District Attorney’s Office, 12th Judicial District,
Anderson, Texas. Litigated felony offenses in Grimes, Madison, and Leon County. Seventeen
felony jury trials. Ninety‐five percent conviction rate. Responsible for all phases of prosecution.
Tried one death penalty case.
1990 to 1995 – Assistant Criminal District Attorney ‐ Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Dallas,
Texas. Litigated juvenile, misdemeanor and felony offenses. One hundred seven jury trials,
forty‐six felony jury trials.
Ninety – five percent conviction rate in felony trials as lead prosecutor.
1989 to 1990 – Associate Attorney ‐ Buholz, Duke, & Bauch, Dallas, Texas. Assisted in family
law and criminal law litigation Made court appearances, first and second chair experience in
pretrial hearings and motions, and drafted pleadings.
1988 to 1989 – Associate Attorney ‐ Keith & Wagner, P.C. ‐ Fort Worth, Texas. Medical
malpractice/products liability law firm. Supervised evaluation section consisting of two nurse
paralegals. Personally interviewed clients, investigated potential claims, and obtained medical
expert consultations.
1987 to 1988 – Briefing Attorney ‐ Justice Joe Spurlock, II, Court of Appeals, Second Supreme
Judicial District, Fort Worth, Texas. Sole briefing clerk responsible for research and writing of
opinions in criminal law and civil law.
1986 – Law Clerk ‐ Pizzitola, Hinton & Sussman, Houston, Texas. Drafted motions, pleadings
and briefs pertaining to federal and state criminal defense law.
1985 to 1986 – Law Clerk ‐ Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Lubbock, Texas. Prepared
appellate briefs and researched and wrote legal memoranda pertaining to criminal law.
