NE 1 Team Leaders’ Reports Tees Valley TV 01 Harrowgate Hill & Northland Methodist, Darlington 25/7/06 5 kids came to help us paint and we talked to them about God. 28/7/06 We had a good last day, finished our painting. TV 02 Elm Ridge Methodist Darlington 24/7/06 Kids asked if we were coming back next summer, hoarded flyers to give to friends. Council man shared their tea at the church with the team and suggested he came to Texas. Beautiful day…glorious! TV 03 South Bank Baptist 27/07After seeing the team painting mural boards to put on boarded up houses, the local young people started doing their own mural to cover up steel shutters. TV 04 North Stockton Churches Together Bag stolen on Hardwick, the team rang the phone and the guys who had stolen it answered. They agreed to meet up with the team after lots of calls and even helped look for purse and cards where they had thrown the bag. The team listened to their stories, one had been abused. Parted on good terms. tog. TV 07 Cockerton Methodist Church 25/7/06 Eagerness of the team, we ran out of flyers. Excellent evening event, kids comfortable at venue with leaders. 28/7/06 Fab day, invited 3 young people to evening event. TV 09 Eastbourne Methodist, Darlington 25/7/06 Fab time on bus, with good bonding time. TV11 Guisborough Christian Fellowship 25/7/06 On the way home on the bus, we were all sharing on the bus mike about ourselves. The bus driver shared that had first opened himself to God when serving in Iraq. But today was the clincher because of what we had shared with him. He gave his life to Jesus. We left him with a bible, a card and snickers. One of our delegates prayed for him over the mike. The driver felt like the most loved man on the planet. TV 12 Guisborough Christian Fellowship 24/7/06 After reassuring local girls that we were not on community service sentences picking litter, on hearing that the church cared for their street they said, ‘Don’t bother with us, we’re not worth it.’ We were able to pray with them that God would bless their lives and their streets. 25/7/06 Group members explained their wrist bands and even gave them away. TV 13 Guisborough Christian Fellowship 24/7/06 Kids in Holiday Club had a fab time, all said they would be back tomorrow. 25/7/06 Delegates witnessed to army cadets with such sensitivity and passion, brilliant to see. 28/7/06 Whole group spoke of their faith to their group of 5 – 11 yr olds.
TV14 Middlesbrough Baptist 27/07 About 50 guys want to come to tomorrow’s event, Friday, also making breakthroughs with GOALS staff. Absolutely flippin’ brilliant! Middlesbrough BC GOALS TV 15 Grove Hill Meth, M’bro 25/7/06 Feeling famous, two newspapers came to take our pictures. TV16 Grove Hill Methodist, M’Bro 24/7/06 Bonded well as a group, friendly conversations with local people, people very open to us. Host team extremely welcoming and hospitable. People stopping us in the street wanting to know what the teams were doing and why. 25/7/06 A man asked how much we were being paid to clear gardens and couldn’t believe that we paid to come! It opened doors for evangelism. People were amazed that we were all helping without putting graffiti over everything. Now they believe that all youth are not out to destroy and can see something different in us. Cool. Grove Hill Meth, M’bro TV 18 St. Chad’s & Grove Hill Methodist 25/7/06 Wonderful day, team really getting together and working great with kids. 27/07 It is just amazing! God is at work! Grove hill just needs some more youth workers to give their attention, time, energy and love. If they set things up in the community they will come to it. The kids need a cool youth group to come to. TV 19 Owton Manor Baptist, Hartlepool 25/7/06We had a wonderful day with our football camp TV 20 East Cleveland Baptist At 7 pm no-one was in the youth café, so we worried then prayed outside the marquee. Loads of guys stopped and talked and ended up with 30 – 40 kids in. TV 22 Darlington Assembly of God. 24/7/06 As we walked to a venue some young boys threw stones at the team, praying that we see those youths at one of our evening events. 25/7/06 Just a great time had by all. Team all working really hard, lots of people saying we are doing a great job 27/07 Member of the team became a Christian and 10 other people from the local area. 2 girls from the team spent a great deal of time talking to the kids, they were awesome! Project was a great success with lots of families and teens turning up. (sports/arts in the park) TV 23 Portrack Baptist Church, Stockton 24/7/06 Team bonded really well and church very welcoming. Very encouraging conversations. A couple of guys just off heroin are coming to help with gardening for the rest f the week. 25/7/06 Hilarious team bonding laughing at language differences with Americans. A couple of people whose gardens we did were crying with appreciation. A good long convo with people who work at the Arc where the evening event is held. Amazed at kids praying with the team at the end of the evening. Will come back to talk more.
28/7/06 The woman we chatted to yesterday about God, phoned at 11.45 last night that she sat beside a Christian on the coach to London, talked some more and committed her life to Christ there and then. God’s done some real miracles in my life this week, I suffered from chronic insomnia for 16 years and was worried about coming to NE1, but I have had at least 6 hours solid sleep every night.The leader of the team TV 24 Stranton, Hartlepool 27/07 Today was amazing..great team effort..the local kids r loving us, come out every day to help paint the houses and cry when we go home. After the local evening event the people hugged the team and said how much they appreciated the work and our testimonies which really encouraged them. 28/7/06 We gave the 4 points bracelets to all the kids, said goodbye and took photos. Finished painting walls and saw the council put hanging baskets up,great. Spoke to parents TV 27 Emmanuel Church, Saltburn 24/7/06 Beautiful people all very nice and friendly. A wonderful group to do our Lord’s work with and for. 25/7/06 Talked to a young man about the 4 points wrist band. The bus driver who became a Christian is going to bring his sister. TV 28 Stockton Baptist Tabernacle 24/7/06 Good day litter picking, lots of positive comments about the hard work and cheerfulness of the team. 25/7/06 We were invited to tea with the Mayor of Stockton and presented with a certificate to mark her appreciation and the appreciation of Friends of Newham Grange Park. 28/7/06 Lots of positive comments from Friends of the Park and from members of the public about the work done in the park. . TV 30 Headland Baptist, Hartlepool 24/7/06 A pub landlord asked us to litter pick his beer garden and he gave us free coke and crisps. 25/7/06 A council member who was passing by commented that the delegates presence on the project was really helping the community. Before starting the project nerves were high but the moment they started talking to people nerves disappeared and the team were so amazing. People at church were really sad to see us go, we have exchanged numbers and plan to keep in touch. Each team member was given a handmade card with personal messages to say thank you. TV31a West View Baptist, Hartlepool 25/7/06 Enthusiasm oozed out of all on the project 27/07 Continued huge gardening job and completed it. The old lady completely thrilled that we had done that for her, she couldn’t afford a gardener. She bought the team a bag of oranges 28/07A successful week with many people touched and many relationships formed. Ongoing link with Westview and Ripon YFC with plans to do mini social action projects.
TV 31b West View Baptist, Hartlepool, 25/7/06 The gardening projects have surprisingly taken off in a big way with opportunities to get alongside local people. The final day of gardening went well, those whose gardens were done also came to other activities. TV 36 Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew One of the team was able to interact really well and evangelise to a keen and interested audience. Had an amazing day, kids group went really well. TV 38 St. Timothy’s of Ephesus, M’Bro Lots of great conversations with young people in Hemlington. Kids seemed to love the evening event with Titus. TV 39 St. Mary’s, Nunthorpe 10 local young people helped with the project. Timi who is 7 worked well hard. 3 of the young people who have been helping all week, took tracts last night and became Christians. Loads of great feedback from project organisers.
