This ministry is a group of thirty local churches that work together to address the needs of the
economically disadvantaged. It operates the Five Loaves & Two Fish Food pantry and the Hope
Clinic. Church participation, volunteers and donations are welcomed.

A non-profit organization that allows anyone to purchase quality items at substantial savings.
Residents pre-order a box of food monthly with cash, money order or Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP) at a reasonable cost. There is at least $40 or $50 worth of fresh &
frozen food in each box. There are no dated or second items. The "menu" of the food box is

different each month to meet each basic food group. There is no limit to the number of boxes
purchased. The boxes are delivered to the Angel Food host site for distribution once a month.

The Council on Aging for McIntosh Trail programs and services are designed to help maintain
and strengthen the ability of elderly or disabled individuals to care for themselves and remain
independent. In addition, the agency provides a broad range of recreational, social, health and
nutrition education. Congregate Meals are provided at the Spalding Senior Center Monday
through Friday at noon. Meals on Wheels serves persons who are homebound, unable to
prepare a nutritious meal, and do not have anyone able to prepare a nutritious meal on a regular
basis. Health Services are available through coordination with local heath departments, Red
Cross, health and lung associations, etc. Recreational Services offered by our senior centers
include field trips, adult games, needlework, quilt making, picnics, etc.

Feed the Hungry Project has been Helping One Family, One Meal at a Time since 1977. Every
week volunteers deliver boxes of food helping those in time of need and spreading the word of
God at the same time. Those in need in Spalding County can call for assistance Monday through
Thursdays for food delivery on Saturday (except for Holiday weekends).

The food bank provides staples and canned goods to anyone in need. No fees required. An
application must be completed. Hours of Operation:
Monday and Wednesday 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM & 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM to 12:00PM

The Benevolence Ministry Team meets each Monday (except on a holiday) to offer assistance
with food, clothing and furniture at the Harris Scout Lodge at 308 8th Street, Griffin. No phone
calls please. Come to the Lodge from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. Assistance with utilities and other
needs depends on availability of funds. All assistance is limited to once every six months

emergency assistance for food and medicine. Sponsor of the Boys and Girls Club of America
with a minimal yearly membership fee. Monday through Friday 9 AM until 12PM and 1:30 PM to
3:30 PM. Provides POWER HOUR Program to assist with after school tutoring. Offers Girl Scout
and Boy Scout Troop membership and activities. Sponsor of the Empty Stocking Fund for toys for
children at Christmas.

The Spalding County Parks & Recreation Department in conjunction with the USDA, offers the
Summer Food Program to children 18 years old and under. Please call for locations.

Women, Infant, Children Nutrition Program (WIC)

This is a special nutrition program for low-income pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding
women and children up to age five. Participants who are eligible receive vouchers to redeem at
approved grocery stores and pharmacies for special foods rich in protein, iron, calcium and
vitamins A and C. Georgia has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the nation. Good
nutrition and regular prenatal care during pregnancy, and good nutrition and preventive health
care for infants are keys to prevent babies from dying or becoming disabled. The following
requirements must be met:

       Be a resident of Georgia or migrant farm worker currently living in Georgia.
       Be at nutritional risk such as anemic, low birth weight, abnormal weight gain during
        pregnancy, high risk pregnancy, or inadequate diet.
       Have a family income of no more than 185 percent of the federal poverty level.
