					                                                2010 HOMECOMING QUEEN & KING
                                                 CANDIDATE NOMINATION FORM
                                    Attention all students, student organizations & clubs, residence halls,
                                    and class presidents. If you are interested in submitting a candidate for
                                    Homecoming King or Queen, nominations are now being accepted.
                                    Each organization may sponsor only one King nominee and only one
                                    Queen nominee. No nominees may be sponsored by another
                                    organization.


        NOMINEES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA & QUALIFICATIONS
   1. Nominees must be FEMALE for Queen Candidates and MALE for King Candidates.
   2. Nominees must be a junior or senior and have completed at least 24 credits at Shippensburg University.
   3. Nominees must have completed at least two (2) Semesters at Shippensburg University.
   4. Nominees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
   5. Nominees must complete and sign this application.
   6. Nominees must be an Undergraduate Student.
   7. All nominations accepted by the Student Senate Elections Committee will be voted on by the student body
      September 28th starting at 8 AM to September 30th at 4 PM.
   8. NO CAMPAIGNING IS ALLOWED DURING ELECTIONS
   9. Those selected for Homecoming Court will be required to attend and participate in all scheduled activities and
      events and should consider these obligations when accepting nominations (schedules will be provided to the
      court after the preliminary election). The 2010 King & Queen must represent the University in a positive
      manner at all times.

         ALL NOMINEES CRITERIA & QUALIFICATION INFORMATION WILL BE VERIFIED!

                                            IMPORTANT DATES

Monday, August 30th                 Applications available at CUB Information Desk.

Wednesday, September 22nd           Applications Due by 12:00 PM to the Student Senate Office. E-mail biographies
                                    to Ralie Heath (univop@ship.edu) by 12:00 PM.

Friday, September 24th              King & Queen Candidates' pictures will be taken at 3:00 PM in the CUB. ALL
                                    King & Queen Nominees must be present for these pictures and should dress in
                                    business casual attire. Please meet on the 2nd level of the CUB at the Information
                                    Desk.

Tuesday, September 28th -           Elections – Online 8:00 AM (Tuesday) through 4:00 PM (Thursday)
Thursday, September 30th

Friday, October 1st                 Court notified. Mandatory meeting at 3 PM, location TBD

Friday, October 1st                 Charity Fundraising begins

Week of October 4th                 Court interviews will be conducted

Thursday, October 21st              Charity Fundraising monies due by 5:00 PM

                    SELECTION PROCESS

                                               CRITERIA
    40% Student Vote
       • Student vote will begin at 8:00 AM Tuesday, September 28th and end promptly at 4:00 PM Thursday,
           September 30th.
       • The top 5 women and top 5 men will be selected for Homecoming Court
              o Candidates will be ranked by total votes accrued to determine scores.
       • Scoring for Student Vote will be as follows:
              o 1st Place             40 points
              o Runner Up             32 points

              o 2 Runner Up           24 points
              o 3rd Runner Up         16 points
                   th
              o 4 Runner Up            8 points

    40% Interview Process
       • Interviews will be conducted the week of October 4th based on scheduling availability of the panel made up of
           2 Alumni, 2 Faculty/Staff members, and 2 Homecoming Committee Board Members
       • If selected to court, attend the meeting Friday, October 1st at 3 PM at a location TBD to receive all
           information regarding fundraising efforts, interviews, requirements, etc.
       • Scoring for Interview will be as follows
               o 1st Place              40 points
               o Runner Up              32 points
               o 2nd Runner Up          24 points

    20% Charity Fundraising Efforts
       • Charity fundraising efforts will take place Friday, October 1st through Thursday, October 21st. This year’s
          charity is the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation. No fundraising is permitted prior to 3 PM Friday, October
          1st. All fundraising efforts must be documented on forms provided to you at the Court meeting.
       • If selected on court, attend the meeting Friday, October 1st at 3 PM at a location TBD to receive all
          information regarding fundraising efforts, interviews, requirements, etc.
       • Scoring for Interview will be as follows
               o 1st Place              20 points
               o Runner Up              16 points

               o 3rd Runner Up           8 points

To determine the King & Queen, point totals will be added for each area of criteria. The individual with the highest point
total in the male and female categories will be awarded King & Queen respectively.

  REMINDER: If you are selected onto the Court, it is expected and required of you to attend all
Homecoming Committee Events. A finalized schedule will be given to you at the October 1st meeting.
