							Scenarios Unlimited Medical Training-U certificate

During the first practical training course (in a hospital environment or approved alternative), the time period between theory and practice may not exceed 5
years. The 2-day refresher course entitled ‘Medical First Aid and Basic Medical Care’ is obligatory if the date on the certificate gained at the seafarers college or
following the Limited Medical Training-L is more than 5 years ago.

Extension of the Unlimited Medical Training-U certificate will only be granted once both the practical and theoretical training courses have been completed.

If the practical training is carried out before the theoretical, and there is a significant time gap in between (practical training is valid for 5 years), the certificate
will only remain valid for a short time.

If the theoretical training is carried out before the practical, the time gap in between may not exceed 6 months. The 2-day refresher course entitled ‘Medical
First Aid and Basic Medical Care’ must be followed again if this period exceeds 6 months.

Summary:

Unlimited Medical Training-U certificate (first issue): comprises a practical ánd theoretical part
1. First practical hospital training (15 days) or first alternative practical training (5 days).
2a. Seafarers college certificate or Limited Medical Training-L completed less than 5 years ago       refresher course not necessary.
2b. Seafarers college certificate or Limited Medical Training-L completed more than 5 years ago         refresher course obligatory: the 2 day refresher course
    entitled ‘Medical First Aid and Basic Medical Care’ must be followed.
The Unlimited Medical Training certificate-U is valid up to 5 years following practical hospital training or alternative practical training.

The Unlimited Medical Training-U certificate (extension) comprises a practical ánd theoretical part:
1. Refresher practical hospital training (5 days) or refresher alternative practical training (3 days).
2. Refresher ‘Medical First Aid and Basic Medical Care’ course also obligatory.
3a. If the 2-day refresher course is completed before the 5-day practical hospital training or 3-day alternative practical training, the time gap between theory
    and practice may not exceed 6 months. The 2-day theory refresher course must be followed again if this period is longer.
3b. If the 5-day practical hospital training or 3-day alternative practical training is completed before the 2-day theory refresher course, with a significant time
    gap between the two, the certificate will only remain valid for a short time.
The Unlimited Medical Training certificate-U is valid up to 5 years following practical hospital training or alternative practical training.
