TEAM NOTE: Salem wrapped up the first half with a doubleheader split at Potomac yesterday…Finished 2nd in the Southern Division with a 32-37 record, 6.5 games back, after going 7-2 over its last 9 games…Sox batters have drawn 269 walks, 2nd in the league…On the mound, Salem leads the circuit with 539 strikeouts…The Sox begin the 3-day All-Star break today…Relievers LHP Derrick Loop and RHP Ryne Miller will be in Lake Elsinore, California tomorrow night for the Carolina/California League All-Star Game. 1B MIKE JONES hit safely in 12 consecutive games from June 1-19, matching OF Jason Place (May 24June 5) for the longest on the club this year…Jones batted .388 (19-for-49) in that span and ranks 4th in the league with a .364 average (20-for-55) in June (min. 15 at-bats), pushing his overall mark to .297 (60-for-202), the 7th-best average in the league…Is also tied for 2nd on the club with 4 home runs. RHP CASEY KELLY wrapped up the first half with 6.0 scoreless frames of 1-hit ball in yesterday’s 1-0 loss at Potomac (Gm. 1)…Walked 2 and struck out 5 in the game, giving him 24 K’s compared to just 3 walks in 5 starts at Advanced Single-A Salem (28.2 IP)…Was his 2nd scoreless 6.0 inning start in his last 4 games…Including 9 starts at Single-A Greenville, he ranks 4th among all full-season Minor League hurlers with a 1.64 ERA (14 ER/77.0 IP) and 6th among starters with a .187 opposing average (52-for-278). RHP KYLE WEILAND tossed 5.0 scoreless innings yesterday for the win in Salem’s first-half finale…Allowed one or less earned runs over at least 5.0 innings in each of his last 5 starts of the first half beginning May 29…The 2008 third-round draft pick has given up just 17 hits in that span to lower his ERA from 7.78 to its current 4.71 mark…Has limited righties to a .192 average (23-for-120) this year.

TEAM NOTE: With a 15-6 record over their last 21 games, the Drive finished the first half with a 39-29 record, 1.0 game ahead of Charleston to win the South Atlantic League’s first half Southern Division crown…It marks the first time in the Drive’s 4-year history that they have won a divisional championship in either half and the first time a Greenville ballclub has won a division championship since 1997 (Greenville Braves)…Greenville ranks 2nd in the league with 18 HR and a .283 batting average this month and leads S.A.L. clubs with a 2.12 ERA in June…Overall this year, rank among offensive leaders in HR (2nd, 48), average (3rd, .261) and walks (3rd, 225)…Hurlers have a league-best 2.76 ERA, allowing the fewest hits (520) and the 3rd-fewest walks (177)…Also lead the league with a .977 fielding pct.
