  Dress should be appropriate for the
  occasion
    Women – Dress or slacks; comfortable dress
    shoes
    Men – Dark dress slacks; dress shoes; collared

Where Should I Park?
  The entrance to The Kimmel Center
  Parking Garage is located just south of
  the Broad Street entrance to the building
  and can be accessed only by cars traveling
  south on Broad Street.
  There are many other lots close to the
  Kimmel Center. Check their web site:

Are my guests allowed in the rehearsal
area?
  No. There is no room and we have much
  to accomplish prior to the ceremony.

Will refreshments be available in the
rehearsal rooms?
  Coffee, tea, juice and a continental
  breakfast will be available.
  Be sure to eat breakfast. Fainting is not
  appropriate behavior at Commencement!

What should I do with my valuables
during rehearsal and the ceremony?
  Leave them at home.
  Let you guests hold them.
  Leave them in the rehearsal halls
  (Innovations, Perelman and Comcast).
  The rooms will be secured and Jefferson
  security officers will be on site.

How many tickets will I get? When can I get
them?
  Each graduate may have as many as four tickets.
  Tickets can be picked up in the Office of the
  Registrar (G-22) beginning on May 7. All financial
  obligations must be satisfied in order to get your
  tickets.
  Everyone except infants entering the Kimmel
  Center will need a ticket! (This is a Kimmel Center
  policy and is non-negotiable!)

Will I be able to get additional tickets?
  Due to the size of the graduating class, we
  do not plan to offer any extra tickets.
  If extra tickets do become available, you
  will be notified via email.

Is the Kimmel Center accessible to
guests with disabilities?
  Yes. The Kimmel Center is accessible.
  However, they do not provide special
  equipment such as wheelchairs for guests.
  You must let the Registrar’s Office know no
  later than Wednesday, March 28 so that
  arrangements can be made.

When should I give my tickets to my
guests?
  Prior to your arrival at the Kimmel Center.
  Once you check in, you won’t have an
  opportunity to see your guests until after
  the ceremony.

  The ceremony should last approximately
  two hours.

Can my family take photographs/videos
during the ceremony?
  Yes, BUT be sure to ask them not to leave
  their seats to do so. ALSO, a professional
  photographer will take your picture on
  stage and a video of the ceremony will be
  available for purchase from Medical Media
  Services.

When will I get my hood?
  On the day of Commencement, during the
  ceremony.
  Post-baccalaureate and Post-master’s
  certificate recipients wear the hoods from
  their previous institutions.

ON which side of the cap should I wear
the tassel?
  On the RIGHT side. After all of the
  degrees are conferred, on a signal from
  the reader, move the tassel to the LEFT
  side.

Are diplomas distributed on stage?
  No. At the ceremony, you will be given an
  empty diploma cover, which must be
  returned at the end of the ceremony. Your
  diploma will be mailed to you 3 – 5 weeks
  after your program’s official conferral date.
  The schedule is available on the Pulse
  Commencement site.

Where should I meet my guests after
the ceremony?
  Make that decision the day before the
  ceremony. The Kimmel Center lobby will
  be crowded!

Will academic honors be announced at
graduation?
  Undergraduate College academic honors will be
  announced:
     Cum Laude – 3.50 GPA
     Magna Cum Laude – 3.70 GPA
     Summa Cum laude – 3.85 GPA
     Minimum 60 credits earned at TJU for BS, 30 for
     AA/AS
  No honors for graduate degrees
  Departmental honors will not be announced, but
  inductees into honor societies will be listed in the
  program.
Frequently Asked Questions
My last name is spelled “Czyntrzl” but
pronounced “Smith.” How will the
reader know?
  The reader checked pronunciation at the
  Graduation Fair. If you didn’t attend,
  contact Dr. Thygeson (3-8189, 708 Edison)
  prior to Commencement Day.
