									                          The CPG & Retail Excellence Awards
The CPG & Retail Excellence Awards pay tribute to the CPG manufacturing and retailing companies
successfully transforming their organizations or products through innovative, leading-edge applications of
business performance management, competitive understanding, or technology. The awards honor companies
leveraging Information Resources, Inc.’s (IRI) (or competitive) products/services to improve performance.

The awards are sponsored by IRI, the leading global provider of enterprise market information solutions
for the CPG, Retail and Healthcare industries; AMR Research, a recognized research leader in CPG and
Retail; and Racher Press, Inc., publisher of Chain Drug Review and MMR - Mass Market Retailers
magazines.

The CPG & Retail Excellence Awards will be presented at a gala dinner at IRI’s Reinventing CPG & Retail
Summit in Miami Beach, Florida, on February 28, 2005, and announced via a summary press release to
recognize all award winners in the competition. In addition, the distinguished award recipients will also
gain media exposure in subsequent press coverage following the event, as well as be highlighted in future
IRI marketing activities.

Attached is the application for demonstrating excellence, including some general guidelines on how best to
describe your unique business situation, strategy, implementation, performance metrics, and future plans.
A panel of industry analysts from AMR Research and media representatives from Chain Drug Review and
MMR – Mass Market Retailers will review the applications, judging them on several criteria, including:

   1.   Overall quality of the awards application
   2.   Program depth and breadth
   3.   Time to value
   4.   Innovation
   5.   Overall benefits received

Four CPG & Retail Excellence Awards will be granted. Applicants may apply for a maximum of two.
Individual applications should be completed for each category entered. Please check appropriate award
category below. Note, after review of the application, the review panel may determine that the entry is more
applicable for a category other than the one originally selected by the applicant. In this event, the company will
be contacted for approval to switch categories.

 Business Transformation of the Year - highlighting achievements of a company that has transformed or
  reinvented itself or one of its brands to achieve significantly improved revenue, reduced costs or increased
  efficiencies.

 Competitive Insights Reinvention of the Year – recognizing the company with the corporate commitment
  to develop best-in-class consumer, competitor, retailer or brand understanding throughout its enterprise
  through the application of innovative new research methods or creative application of existing ones to
  deliver improved ROI.

 CPG Manufacturer Innovation of the Year – acknowledging the CPG manufacturer who has created
  innovative strategies or technologies to address evolving consumer attitudes, preferences and behaviors to
  improve performance.

 CPG Retailer Innovation of the Year - honoring the retailer that has successfully created innovative
  strategies or technologies focused on addressing evolving retail execution issues and/or improving the in-
  store shopping experience to improve performance.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In 200 words or less, please describe your program at a high level, including the challenges facing your
organization, the IRI (or competitive) solution used to affect change, and the results and benefits of
implementing the solution. This description will be used in press releases and the public awards ceremony.

No business transformation or successful initiative can be deemed a success without measurable results.
