Once you have enrolled in an online class, an online demonstration class will be accessible starting Wednesday, September 8 after 5pm.
Open your browser and go to http://www.linfield.edu/dce. Under “Current Students” select the “Go to Blackboard CE” link. This will
take you to a login screen. Your username will be your Linfield CatNet account (Webmail and WebAdvisor) username. If you haven’t
already signed up for a Linfield CatNet account go back to the “Current Students” link and select “Computer Accounts.” On the
Computer Accounts page, follow the directions for opening a CatNet account. Your password for an online class is the same as CatNet and
Webmail. The class(es) you have registered for will start Saturday, September 11. Make sure you can log in before this date. When you log
in on Wednesday the 8th, you will see your list of available classes. If you do not see your class or you are having log-in problems, please
call the DCE office M-F, 8am-5pm for help: 800-452-4176 or email dce@linfield.edu

 • An	online	course	is	not	easier	or	less	work	than	a	face-to-face	class. Because	it	is	text-based,	you	may	find	it	more	time-consuming.
 • An	online	course	is	not	self-paced. You’ll	have	assignments	due	at	least	every	week	and	often	several	times	a	week.
 • An	online	course	is	not	independent	study. You’ll	be	required	to	interact	regularly	with	other	students	in	the	class.
 • An	online	course	requires	timely	participation	and	submittal	of	work. If	you	miss	deadlines	or	don’t	log	in,	you	will	probably	be	penalized.
 • An	online	course	allows	the	faculty	member	to	see	when	you’ve	logged	in,	which	pages	you	visit,	and	how	long	you’ve	spent	in	the	classroom.
 • You’ll	have	access	to	your	online	courses	on	Wednesday,	September	8. Please	make	sure	you	can	log	in. For	help	please	call	DCE	at	800-452-4176
Monday	through	Friday	8am	until	5pm.

     1. Go	to:	www.linfield.edu/dce/current-students/online-access.php. Then	select	“Go	to	Blackboard	CE”.
     2. Log	in	using	your	Linfield	CatNet	user	name	and	password	–	the	same	as	your	Linfield	email	account.
     3. If	you	haven’t	taken	an	online	class	before,	make	sure	you	run	the	Browser	check,	located	on	the	menu	bar	of	the	online	login	page.	This	will	help
you	set	up	your	browser	for	optimal	performance.
     4. There	is	a	demo	class	online. It’s	helpful	in	teaching	you	to	navigate	the	course. Information	to	access	this	self	tutorial	is	in	the	announcement
section	of	Blackboard	or	email	DCE	for	instructions.
