• Down Syndrome--An extra 21st
  chromosome (trisomy--when a
  cell has 3 copies of chromosome)
• Turner, Klinefelter--error in sex
  chromosome number.
  TESTS FOR ACQUIRING
      KARYOTYPES
• Amniocentesis--removal of a
  small amount of fluid from the
  sac that surrounds the fetus.
• Chorionic Villi Sampling--
  Removal of cells from the
  fingerlike extension of the
