FIREFIGHTING: Move container from fire area if you can do it without risk (1990 Emergency Response Guidebook, DOT P 5800.5, Guide page 53). Extinguish using agent suitable for type of surrounding fire. Avoid breathing vapors and dusts. Keep upwind. ----------------------------------------------------------TOXICITY ----------------------------------------------------------PRALIDOXIME CHLORIDE: TOXICITY DATA: 4100 mg/kg oral-mouse LD50; 14 mg/kg intravenous-man TDLO; 15 mg/kg intravenous-human TDLO; 96 mg/kg intravenousrat LD50; 90 mg/kg intravenous-mouse LD50; 95 mg/kg intravenousrabbit LD50; 155 mg/kg intraperitoneal-mouse LD50; 150 mg/kg intramuscular-rat LD50; 100 mg/kg intramuscular-mouse LD50; 75 mg/kg intramuscular-dog LD50; 168 mg/kg intramuscular-guinea pig LD50. CARCINOGEN STATUS: None ACUTE TOXICITY LEVEL: Moderately toxic by ingestion. TARGET EFFECTS: No data available AT INCREASED RISK FROM EXPOSURE: Persons with impaired renal function or myasthenia gravis. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Dizziness, blurred vision, diplopia, impaired accommodation, headache, drowsiness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, tachycardia, increased blood pressure, hyperventilation and muscular weakness have been reported after parenteral or unspecified administration. Interactions with medications may occur. ----------------------------------------------------------HEALTH EFFECTS AND FIRST AID ----------------------------------------------------------INHALATION: PRALIDOXIME CHLORIDE: ACUTE EXPOSURE: Pralidoxime chloride was detected in the blood of five subjects after they inhaled it in nebulized form, but no consistent correlation was observed between the duration of inhalation and the level of drug in the blood. With sufficient exposure, systemic effects as detailed in additional data may be possible. FIRST AID: Remove from exposure area to fresh air immediately. If breathing has stopped, perform artificial respiration. Keep person warm and at rest. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get medical attention immediately. SKIN CONTACT: PRALIDOXIME CHLORIDE: ACUTE EXPOSURE: No data available. CHRONIC EXPOSURE: No data available. FIRST AID: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash affected area with soap or mild detergent and large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains (approximately 15-20 minutes). Get medical attention immediately.

EYE CONTACT: PRALIDOXIME CHLORIDE: ACUTE EXPOSURE: Contact with ocular tissues may cause irritation. Little effect on miosis and cyclotonia induced by cholinesterase inhibition has been noticed from eyedrops containing 5% Pralidoxime salts. CHRONIC EXPOSURE: No data available. FIRST AID: Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water or normal saline, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of chemical remains (approximately 15-20 minutes). Get medical attention immediately. INGESTION: PRALIDOXIME CHLORIDE: ACUTE EXPOSURE: Systemic effects described in additional data may be possible. The lethal dose in mice is 4100 mg/kg. Toxic effects were not reported. CHRONIC EXPOSURE: Administration to 29 subjects of up to 4 grams daily for 6 months caused transient changes in liver function tests and the ECG and lymphocytosis. Thirteen men given 1 gram 3 to 4 times a week for 22 weeks reported no adverse effects. Oral administration in animals produced epithelial defects in the gastric mucosa. FIRST AID: Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get medical attention immediately. If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to prevent aspiration. ANTIDOTE: No specific antidote. Treat symptomatically and supportively. ----------------------------------------------------------REACTIVITY ----------------------------------------------------------REACTIVITY: Stable under normal temperatures and pressure. INCOMPATIBILITIES: PRALIDOXIME CHLORIDE: Oxidizers (strong): Fire and explosion hazard. DECOMPOSITION: Thermal decomposition products may include toxic oxides of nitrogen and carbon and toxic and corrosive fumes of chlorides. POLYMERIZATION: Hazardous polymerization has not been reported to occur under normal temperatures and pressures. ----------------------------------------------------------STORAGE AND DISPOSAL ----------------------------------------------------------Observe all Federal, State and local regulations when storing or disposing of this substance. For assistance, contact the district director of the environmental protection agency. STORAGE: Store away from incompatible substances. ----------------------------------------------------------CONDITIONS TO AVOID ----------------------------------------------------------May burn but does not ignite readily. Avoid contact with strong oxidizers, excessive heat, sparks, or open flame. ----------------------------------------------------------SPILL AND LEAK PROCEDURES ----------------------------------------------------------OCCUPATIONAL SPILL: Sweep up and place in suitable clean, dry containers for later disposal. Do not flush spilled material into sewer. Keep unnecessary people away. ----------------------------------------------------------PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT ----------------------------------------------------------VENTILATION: Provide local exhaust or general dilution ventilation system.

RESPIRATOR: The following respirators are recommended based on information found in the physical data, toxicity and health effects sections. They are ranked in order from minimum to maximum respiratory protection. The specific respirator selected must be based on contamination levels found in the work place, must be based on the specific operation, must not exceed the working limits of the respirator and must be jointly approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (NIOSH-MSHA). Any dust and mist respirator. Any air purifying respirator with a high-efficiency particulate filter. FOR FIREFIGHTING AND OTHER IMMEDIATELY DANGEROUS TO LIFE OR HEALTH CONDITIONS: Any self-contained breathing apparatus that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positive-pressure mode. Any supplied-air respirator that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positivepressure mode in combination with an auxiliary selfcontained breathing apparatus operated in pressuredemand or other positive-pressure mode. CLOTHING: Protective clothing not required. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact with this substance. GLOVES: Employee must wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent contact with this substance. EYE PROTECTION: Employee must wear splash-proof safety glasses to prevent eye contact. ----------------------------------------------------------CREATION DATE: 04/23/92 REVISION DATE: 09/25/92 ----------------------------------------------------------DISCLAIMER OF EXPRESSED AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES: Although reasonable care has been taken in the preparation of this document, we extend no warranties and make no representation as to the accuracy or completeness of the information contained therein, and assume no responsibility regarding the suitability of this information for the user's intended purposes or for the consequences of its use.
