Abobakr Haj Alshaikh
 Luttenizing hormone , LH, lutropin ,in
male known as Interstitial Cell Stimulating
  Hormone
 Producted by anterior Pitutary gland
  (gonadotrophic cells)
 Not necessary for life ,but is essential for
  reproduction
           Structure of L H

• LH is glucoprotein contains 2 poly peptide
units ,labeled alpha subunit (92 amino
acid) and beta subunit (121 amino acid)
that are connected by two disulfide
  bridges
• Each monomeric unit is a sugar like proten
  molecule exp D-mannose L-fucose
           Function of it

In female
・Induction of ovulation
・Formation of corpus luteum
・Stimulation of progesterone
  production
• In male LH acts upun the leydig cells of
the testis and is responsible for the
 production of an androgen and
 testosterone which work with (FSH)
 induces the maturation of seminiferous
tubules and stimulates them to produce
 sperm
        Applications
• Embryo transfer
• Synchronization of ovarian cycle
