Name of Workshop: Divorce Litigation, Parental Alienation and the Role of the School Counsellor.

Introduction to be read by person, as supplied by you on your workshop proposal

Rob is a 30 year school counsellor having worked in 4 B.C. school districts at the elementary, middle school, junior
secondary and secondary levels. I have also counselled in alternate school and private agency settings. Currently I am
completing Family Mediation training with the Justice Institute of B.C. From March of 2000 to August 2002 my family
and I experienced first hand the devastating effects of adversarial divorce litigation. In June of 2001 I dismissed my
lawyer and for the next 14 months represented myself through numerous proceedings in B.C. Supreme Court. This steep
and precarious learning curve afforded me a unique and revealing glimpse into the internal workings of the courts and of
family law in British Columbia.
