snakes and birds. The museum has a magnificent library.

Another important place among the tourist sites in Raipur is Rajim, which is commonly
known as the Prayag of the state. It is the meeting point of three rivers, namely Pairi,
Mahanadi and Sondur. The place has a number of temples.

The Doodhadhari Monastery is another of the major tourist attractions in Raipur. The
temple was constructed in the 17th century by Maharaja Jaitsingh and has beautiful
frescos. The temple is said to have been blessed by the Hindu Lord Rama.

The festivals of Raipur have become some major attractions for tourists. Dusshera is a
popular festival here and celebrated with much élan near the Bastar region. Madai festival
is celebrated by dancing, eating and making merriment. Hariyali, Kora, Navakhani and
Cherta Festivals are some of the important agricultural festivals of Raipur and the near by
regions.
The area surrounding the city is home to three wild life sanctuaries, with a variety of flora
and fauna. Chinkaras, nilgai, wild boar, four horned antelope, sambar, sloth bear, wolf,
hyena, bison, tigers, leopards and panthers can be spotted in the sanctuaries. The
sanctuary's feathered population includes peacock, jungle fowl, pigeon, green pigeon,
wood pecker, quail, gray-partridge, parrot and stork.
