Wedding Receptions at Fort Denison Sydney Harbour Australia Your exclusive island in the middle of Sydney Harbour A wedding on an island encompasses so many key elements that comes together to ensure that the evening is truly romantic and remarkable. We have been hosting weddings at Fort Denison since 2006 and we know exactly what it takes to bring all the elements together successfully. A wedding is an extra special event that takes months of planning to ensure your special night is all and more than you could have ever imagined. Fort Denison is that perfect location. Our Venue Fort Denison is one of Australia’s most unique venues for your wedding. Venue hire includes the use of Fort Denison for the duration of your event, the clear walled marquee with flooring and carpet erected especially for your event. Guest transport to and from the island – how does this happen? We will take the worry out of arranging for your guests to be transported to and from the island. And we can also arrange for you both to come on to the island by yourselves or with your bridal party. Your Guests’ Ferry is able to depart from the following locations: Man ‘o’ War Steps – eastern side of the Opera House • Campbell’s Cove – located at the North Western end of the Overseas Passenger • Terminal at Circular Quay • King Street Wharf • Darling Point • Jeffrey Street Wharf, Kirribilli • Eastern Pontoon, Circular Quay Should you wish to travel from other areas of the Sydney waterways, just let us know and we can organise all the necessary logistics and negotiate the additional charter rates through our preferred suppliers. Transport of Bridal Party & Photographer A water taxi can be arranged to bring the bridal party & even your photographer to Fort Denison prior to the reception to capture the amazing location together with the 360 degree uninterrupted view for your special photos. Transport of Bride & Groom off the island The Bride & Groom often like to leave on their own water taxi and to have all of their guests wave them goodbye from the island. Transport of Band/DJ Your selected entertainment for your special evening will need to be transferred to and from the island. TE Catering has a designated departure point, and will arrange all of this on your behalf. Transport for additional suppliers TE Catering will liase and arrange for all water transport for the important elements of the reception such as the band or DJ, florists, your wedding cake, etc. Bump in & out – what does this mean? As each event on Fort Denison requires the equipment, food, beverages and decorations to be transported to the island pre event and off the island at the end of the evening a separate water transport company will be coordinated for you by us. National Parks and Wildlife A representative from NPWS will be on the island for the duration of your wedding and will be more than happy to conduct tgou tours of the island. They will even explain all of Fort Denison’s history. A trip up into the Martello Tower can be very appealing for your guests. Event Security We will ensure, on your behalf that appropriate security is on site for all events of 100 guests or more. Security is required to br on site at all times when guests have access to Fort Denison and amongst other duties will be responsible for maintaining our commitment to the responsible service of alcohol. Security will also provide First Aid if required. Battery Lawn Situated on the Eastern side of the island with views to South Head, the Battery Lawn surrounded by cannons is perfect for canapés, pre dinner drinks and cocktails. The Battery Lawn is also available for wedding ceremonies. Marquee Dine under the stars in our completely clear marquee which includes carpeted flooring. Erected on the Western side of the Fort, every guest has an uninterrupted view of the city lights, Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The marquee floor is fitted with carpet and is able to hold a dancefloor. Cocktail party maximum 200 guests Dinner maximum 200 guests Dinner with dance floor & band maximum 170 guests Bridal Retreat Located within the museum, we provide a private retreat for the bridal party. The perfect place to sneak a few quiet moments… Powder Rooms The powder rooms can be upgraded to carry through your theme for your wedding. The addition of a bathroom package adds a layer of beauty to the male and female bathrooms on the night. The bathroom package features 100% cotton hand towels, luxurious hand wash, candles and flowers. Wharf A red or black carpet can be added for that sense of occasion on your arrival. Forecourt This area becomes an extension of the dance floor as guests spill out to relax under the stars. This is also the designated smoking area on the island. The space is also able to be decorated with gorgeous furniture for an additional charge. Lighting The lighting of the island can really set the tone for your event. We have a range of different lighting packages available which highlight the beauty of the sandstone walls and the island’s 70 year old palm tree. Lights can be selected in a range of colours. Tastings are generally conducted approximately 6 weeks out from your special day and are held in our kitchen at our head office in Woolloomooloo. This ensures the accuracy for seasonality of the items selected. Management Services Should your special day require more organisation that you have time for, TE is able to assist with coordination of your wedding day. Please enquire with us if you would like a quotation for such services Cocktails Arriving on to an island and be greeted with a cocktail is a perfect way to start your celebration. We have a range of cocktails for you to consider Post Ceremony Cruises Post ceremony cruises for up to one hour around Sydney Harbour and pre your reception on Fort Denison can add to the excitement of your island wedding. Wedding Ceremonies on the island Have you considered having your wedding ceremony on the lawn at Fort Denison? A wedding ceremony is a magical affair as your family and friends witness you exchange your vows surrounded by the stunning 360 degree views of the Harbour. A ceremony on Fort Denison also provides wonderful photo opportunities. For your guests to arrive by boat to such a magnificent location is the perfect way to start the celebrations of your special day. A string quartet can serenade your guests on arrival onto the island and play your special song in the background as you exchange your vows. How do we get there? TE Catering will arrange your water transport via a Guest Ferry over to the island and back from a CBD location. 2. Park Entry fee/National Parks and Wildlife Ranger: TE Catering collects this fee on behalf of National Parks and Wildlife and the fee goes towards the general upkeep and preservation of the island when a Ranger is not required. Should you wish to use the Bridal Retreat or the Museum a Ranger will be required. He will also be able to take your guests on guided tours of the Martello Tower and the island explaining its history along the way. 3. What time can you come on to the island and what time do you need to leave? TE Catering recommends that events do not commence before 6.30pm and conclude at 11.30pm. Of course you could come later, or leave earlier if you wish. 4. Can we tentatively hold a date? You will only have a confirmed reservation for your event once the applicable deposit has been paid. 5. Are we free to explore the whole island? Fort Denison has much to offer. You are free to roam around the island at your leisure. Should you require a personal tour of the museum and Martello tour, a National Parks staff member is required at a cost of $770.00 for the duration. 6. Can we BYO? As the island is fully licensed we regret that we cannot permit this. 7. Can we arrive by our own boat? There are no mooring facilities at Fort Denison and only contracted companies are able to dock at the island. 8. Will we be the only guests on the island? Should you wish to hire Fort Denison exclusively, yours will be the only event taking place at that time. 9. Can guests leave earlier than the scheduled conclusion time of the event? Yes of course. We recommend that water taxis are pre-booked, therefore ensuring availability, particularly in the busier summer months. 10. What is a ‘Bump in and Bump out’ As there are no storage facilities on the island and for each event all of the food, alcohol decorations, lighting, etc are required to be brought across from the mainland especially for your wedding, and returned at the end of the night. 11. Why do you pay Venue Hire and what does it include Venue hire is charged because the island closes for normal daytime trade at 3.45pm and the fee allows you to use the island exclusively outside of these hours. You are therefore able to enjoy your wedding with just your guests. 12. Can you bring your own 3rd party suppliers to the island for your event? In order for us to provide you with the best possible experience for your event, TE Catering has a team of approved suppliers such as DJs, lighting technicians, florists, audio, cake makers, etc who are experts in their fields. In instances where you wish to bring your own suppliers, we ask that you consult your TE event manager to ensure suitability of their services. Suppliers who are not affiliated with Fort Denison will need to conduct a site inspection and a fee will be charged for TE Catering to manage their supply of service. In all instances TE Catering reserves the right to refuse the use of their services at Fort Denison.
