                 MEMBERSHIP OF BINGLEY SWIMMING CLUB 2011
Candidates for membership shall complete a Membership form and Health declaration form (signed by a
parent or guardian where the member is under 18 years of age) with the appropriate fee(s), shall be submitted
for acceptance by the Membership Secretary or the Committee.


Membership will comprise:

   Swimming Member - swimming membership is for those taking part in the objectives of the Club.

   Honorary Student Membership – honorary student membership is for those members who have
   been with the club for a number of years and wish to maintain their membership whilst at college or
   university and wish to participate in the club’s activities throughout the year, no membership fee payable
   however we ask that you pay the relevant ASA and other affiliation fees for insurance purposes. You must
   notify the Membership Secretary or Club Secretary that you wish to take advantage of this membership, it
   is not automatically awarded.

   Social Member - social membership is for those involved in promoting the objectives of the Club but
   not partaking in them. One parent or guardian of a Swimming Member under the age of 18 years may vote
   at the AGM or any Extraordinary General Meeting that may be called. By exercising that right and by
   registering such details as may be required by the Membership Secretary prior to the commencement of the
   meeting, the parent or guardian becomes a Social Member. The Club reserves the right to charge a fee
   equal to the amount levied by the ASA upon the club for this class of membership. There is a requirement
   on Bingley ASC to provide details of parent or guardians to the ASA at the same time as we provide
   information on the swimmer.

   Visiting Member - visiting membership is for those who are making temporary use of the Club's
   facilities.

   Honorary Life Member - honorary life membership is awarded at the AGM for outstanding service to
   the Club or for outstanding achievement.

The Membership form is a contract (of which the constitution forms a part) between the swimmer and the Club
if the member is under 18 years old the form should be signed by a parent or guardian.

The Membership Secretary and / or the Committee may refuse membership of the Club and are not required to
give reason for refusal of membership.

In the event that a member or prospective member is suffering hardship the Committee may at its discretion
amend the time period for payment or in exceptional circumstances waive part of the membership fee.

Membership Fees shall be fixed at the AGM and fall due by the 31st December 2010, reducing half yearly for
new members (end of July)

The ASA Data Protection Form should be completed and returned along with your membership form, this form
is available from the Membership Secretary.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

All Membership Fees shall be paid by 31st December 2010 or will become due within 28 days of first
attendance.
Any member not renewing his / her membership before the 31st January 2011 will be deemed to have resigned
and will be placed on the waiting list along with any other prospective member.

Prospective members maybe/are placed on the waiting list, they are entitled to attend the club on three (3)
occasions only, the first occasion is for assessment by the Coach this visit is FREE, two more visits may be
made paying a swimming session fee of £3.50 per visit, at this point for insurance purposes you must either
join the club or stop coming to the club.

Membership Fees must include the membership fee, the basic ASA Registration fee and the NECSA affiliation
fees.

Category 1 ASA membership                                                    £7.10

This is the basic membership fee payable through the club to the ASA it is payable at the club which you have
the longest unbroken membership.

If you are a member of another club and were a member of that club prior to joining Bingley ASC and still
maintain that membership this payment should be made to that club NOT Bingley. You should identify the
club on the membership form as requested. (We may check with the other club’s that the information provided
is correct).You may also need to complete the ASA form “Membership Registration Form Category 1 & 3 in
addition to the Club Membership Form.

Category 2 ASA membership                                                    £23.25

This fee is payable by those members who are intending to swim in any of the following A,B or C galas,
Yorkshire or North East Championship or National events, it is payable at the club which you have the longest
unbroken membership.

If you are a member of another club and were a member of that club prior to joining Bingley ASC and still
maintain that membership this payment should be made to that club NOT Bingley. You should identify the
club on the membership form as requested together with your ASA membership number.

If your ASA Registration has been made through Bingley ASC you should complete the ASA form
“Membership Registration Form Category 2”

NERSA FEES

The fees for NERASA are                                                      £3.15

This fee is payable by ALL members irrespective of membership at any other club.

RESIGNATION

Notification that you are wishing to resign from the Club must be in writing, a form is available from the
Membership Secretary. The Amateur Swimming Association require us to provide proof of ALL
resignations. If you are leaving to join another swimming club they should provide a Resignation Form
for you to complete.

The form should be returned to the Membership Secretary or Club Secretary

Any member whose subscription is unpaid by the date falling 30 days after the due date for payment (31st
December) may be suspended from some or all Club activities from a date to be determined by the Committee
and until such payment is made. Any member in arrears on the annual membership will be deemed to have
resigned.

Club Discipline
The Committee shall have power to expel a member when, in its opinion, it would not be in the interests of the
Club for him / her to remain a member. The Club shall adopt and comply with the ASA Guidelines for
handling Internal Club Disputes (The Guidelines) as may be revised from time to time. Exclusion, Expulsion
or Suspension shall be as determined only by the relevant ASA Laws. Temporary suspension can be applied to
a member where such action is in the best interests of the Club. Thereafter the complaint must be in accordance
with the Guidelines.

Data Protection Act (subject to any change by British Swimming)

Bingley ASC keeps the membership records, swimmers times and other relevant records on a web based Club
Management System which is located on a secure server at times information may be held on a personal
computer for specific purposes and for a limited time after which it will be deleted.
The information will only be used within the club and where required limited information may be given to
other organisations that the club is affiliated to. Any information held relating to a member will be made
available to that member or the member’s parent or guardian for inspection / verification on request in writing
to the membership secretary.

Bingley ASC may during swimming galas and training sessions take appropriate photographic or video images
of members for use in press or web site publicity / promotions / training aides as we deem appropriate, all
photographic material will be in accordance with our own club policies and those of the Amateur Swimming
Association.

Bingley ASC follow the requirements of the Data Protection Act and the Advice for Photographic materials
and also the Child Protection requirements of the ASA as laid out in the document set out by the ASA at
www.Britishswimming.org useful documents and the headings membership and guidelines. We also publish
our own club policies and are available at our own website www.bingleyasc.org

If you are unable to access the web sites to obtain this information please request it from any committee
member who will arrange for the information to be supplied in a printed form.

Competitive Swimming

For those members who wish to participate in swimming galas and competitions we provide the following
opportunities.

Competition Night’s this is an internal club competition and is an introduction to competitive swimming, over
a series of galas the swimmers will get to know the requirements for competitive swimming and earn points
toward their Age Group Championship or Club Championship Trophies. But, most of all it is a chance to meet
other members of the club and gain friends.

There are 4 Competition Night’s throughout the year an entry form is available on the website
www.bingleyasc.org or is put up on the Notice Board at Bingley Swimming Pool or the Coaching Staff will let
you know about the dates and what you should enter.

Pennine Shield Competition this is a team competition between a number of local swimming clubs and
members up to the age of 11 years are selected by the Coach and Coaching staff to represent the club.

     Airedale & Wharfedale Swimming Association and Bradford & District Swimming Association

Both of these associations run their own series of galas throughout the year and attract clubs from a wide area
of West Yorkshire.

There are in each association’s galas Individual and Team events.

Members enter the Individual events themselves by completing an entry form and pay an entry fee to do so.
Completed entry forms should be returned to the Championship Secretary or the Coach

If you are in any doubt as to your ability to compete in this type of gala speak to the Coach or other members
of the coaching staff they will discuss it with you but, they will not force you to enter.

The Teams are selected by the Coach and the Coaching staff.

We do not presently have copies of the entry forms for these galas please request a copy in the New Year.
Please pay for your entries when submitting the entry forms. Keep a record or copy of your entries if you
cannot swim at a gala providing at least 4 weeks minimum notice is given you may be able to get your entry
fee back.

                          BINGLEY SWIMMING CLUB

                         MEMBERSHIP FEES FOR 2011


Membership fees for 2011 are now due for payment, the payments are as detailed below.

The membership fees consist of Club payment, ASA registration fee and the Regional
affiliation fee.

Category 1 Membership

The membership payment due is

Swimming Membership £28.00 + ASA & Regional Fees £7.10 + £3.15 = £38.25

A club swimmer who can swim in Internal, Interclub and Local Association Gala’s as an
individual swimmer or team member.

Category 2 Membership

The membership payment due is

Swimming Membership £28.00 + ASA & Regional Fees £23.25 + £3.15 = £54.40

A swimmer who swims competitively at Graded, Age Group, County, Regional or National
Level, in addition to those listed under category 1.

NOTE, this is payable at the club with whom you have had the longest unbroken membership.


IMPORTANT NOTE

If you wish to change the ASA Category of registration please inform the Membership
Secretary.
Changing from category 1 to category 2 can only be done after you have completed the
relevant Registration Form
