TRAINING INFORMATION
Washington County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition

WHO ARE THE TRAINERS - Richard and Linda Goddard, founders and directors of CLER Ministries, a
not-for-profit Christian sexuality education ministry, will conduct this 10-hour training event.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE - We recommend that people be asked to take part in this training who would be
interested in teaching the different age level courses. It is important to have one or two of your youth
leaders, or youth minister, as part of the training so that they have knowledge and understanding about
sexuality issues as they will continue to get follow-up questions after the classes are over. It is
recommended that at least one member of the ministerial staff attend this training so that any theological
concerns can be addressed.
WHAT - The 10-hour training event will consist of taking participants through the 10-session high school
sexuality course. Having completed this training, participants will be qualified, with the purchase of
CLER Ministries’ curriculum and resources, to conduct elementary through adult classes at their
respective churches and will receive a Certificate of Completion from CLER Ministries.
WHERE – First Christian Church, Hagerstown, 1345 Potomac St.
WHEN -It is recommended that training events take place within four-five months of presenting your first
sexuality course. If a longer period of time goes between training and teaching, momentum is lost.
Training times are Friday evening, 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., with
approximately 30 minutes allowed for lunch. Lunch will be served at the church so that minimum time is
lost.
HOW - The Student Resource Manual that is used in the high school course will be given to each training
participant at the event. We will make available coffee, sodas, and snacks for Friday night and Saturday,
as well as donuts, juice & coffee on Saturday morning.
COST - $25 per participant; scholarships are available for Washington County church members/
residents. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.
