2009 Immunofluorescence Proficiency Testing Program (Indirect Testing Only)
Registration Deadlines: Spring Program: April 29, 2009 Fall Program: October 6, 2009 No refunds after testing materials are sent.
Eligibility
Testing is open to laboratory directors.
Description
This program is concerned with the quality of indirect immunofluorescence tesing of sera for detection of circulating IgG anti-basement membrane zone and anti-intercellular (cell surface) antibodies. The participating physician receives five serum samples and is requested to process these to determine the presence of and titer of circulating antibodies using an indirect immunofluorescence technique with monkey esophagus as a substrate and other substrates if desired. The participant records the results including pattern and the titer. Each participant will return the recorded results to Beutner Labs, Inc. The results of all laboratories in the same testing event will be number coded, compiled and summarized for quality review. Beutner Labs, Inc. provides this service in cooperation with the Department of Microbiology an Immunology of the University at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, SUNY. Following completion of tests of specimens from Beutner Labs, Inc. participants receive number coded summaries of the results of all participants. A certificate is issued to each laboratory participating in the program.
