PROCEDURE FOR
  PROSTATE
 EXAMINATION
     PROCEDURE

       of test environment
 Set-up
 and equipment
 Patient preparation
 Diagnostic examination
 Results evaluation
               SET UP (1)
 Environmental requirements
    verification:
     1. Proper room dimensions
     2. Absence, in the “safety” area, of
        working electromedical devices
     3. Absence of metallic masses and/or
        structures
     4. Absence of electromagnetic
        interferences
          SET UP (2)

 Verification of proper system
    functioning:
     1. Green led light on the Receiver
     2. Green led light on the Probe
     3. Radiofrequency presence
     4. Green light on computer screen
       PREPARATION (1)

 Patient position :
     1. Without trousers
     2. front to the Receiver, open legs
     3. perineum at the Receiver height
     4. distance from the Receiver: 120-140
        cm
    PREPARATION (2)

 Operator position :
Behind the patient, at his side

 Probe position :
     in contact with perineum
     emitting slot (beam) adressed to
     the prostate
DIAGNOSTIC EXAMINATION
 Moving the probe along the 3 axes
(scanning the whole organ), look for the
possible abatment of the first line below
    the threshold
 Freeze the image and save the reading,
referring it to the interested prostatic area
 Repeat the readings, saving all the
events in which an abatment can be
    verified
RESULTS EVALUATION

The permanent abatment of the
  first line below the threshold
indicates the possible presence
           of a neoplasm
  OUTCOME DOUBTS
FALSE POSITIVES
 Unwilled decreases due to
   environment interactions
 Unstable decreases associated to
   presence of calcifications
FALSE NEGATIVES
 No signal decrease due to frequency
   shifts
 No signal abatment, associated to
   heavy malignant pathologies
IMPROVED PROCEDURE
 Set up of test environment
      and equipment
   Patient preparation
   Prostate stimulation
   Diagnostic examination
   Confirmation of positivity
   Results evaluation
     CONFIRMATION OF
        POSITIVITY
 Move the patient at a longer distance
    from the Receiver (150-160 cm)
 Repeat the prostate scan, looking for
    the confirmation of the abatments
detected in the same areas interested
    during the first scan
 Save the readings
PROSTATE STIMULATION
 Put the probe in contact with perineum in central
    position (beam upwards)
 Verify the possible decrease of the second line
    (below 20%)
 If the signal shows no decrease, perform 10-15
scans (one a second) along the perineum, and
look again for the line decrease
 When the second line decreases, it indicates
that the tissue is properly stimulated and ready
    to interact
RESULTS EVALUATION

The permanent abatment of the
  first line below the threshold,
   confirmed at two distances,
indicates the possible presence
            of a neoplasm
