PRIVATE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS HAVE LESS THAN A MONTH TO APPLY FOR SBA DISASTER ASSISTANCE
AUGUSTA, Maine - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) reminds Private Non-Profit organizations (PNPs) that do not provide critical services of a governmental nature that the filing deadline for SBA low interest rate disaster loans is June 19, 2007. These loans are available as a result of President Bush’s Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance resulting from damages caused by flooding March 16 – 18, 2007. PNPs located in the counties of Hancock, Knox, Lincoln and Waldo in the State of Maine are eligible to apply to SBA. Examples of eligible non critical PNP organizations include, but are not limited to, food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers and colleges. Eligible private non-profit organizations may qualify for loans up to $1.5 million. These loans are available at a 4 percent interest rate with loan terms up to 30 years. These loans are for permanent repair and /or replacement of damage property. SBA determines eligibility for the program based on the size, type of services and its financial resources. Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are based upon each applicant’s financial condition. The deadline to apply for these loans is June 19, 2007. Disaster loan information and application forms may be obtained by writing to the U.S. Small Business Administration, Customer Service Center – 130 South Elmwood Avenue, Suite 516, Buffalo, NY 14202, or by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (for the hearing-impaired 1-800-8778339), Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. EDT.
