                 Cycle 17 Proposal Pool (2)
    Program Coordinators (PCs) are processing observations in the pool: ~
     7000 external and ~7000 internal orbits. Eight calibration proposals still
     to be submitted.
    Instrument teams have been reviewing these observations and will
     have most done before SM4. Remaining will be done according to Long
     Range Plan schedule.
    Final processing steps will wait until after SM4, when the ground system
     is reconfigured for 3 gyro mode.
    Time-critical Cycle 17 GO observations have been executing in 2-gyro
     mode since October 2008 (96 orbits so far).
    After SM4, all remaining Cycle 15, 16 proposals will be re-worked for 3-
     gyro mode.
    Remaining NICMOS observations are being switched to another
     existing or future instrument, when possible to reach scientific goals
     without NICMOS.

Cycle 17 Statistics:
 380 days in length (8/17/09 - end of SMOV - to 8/31/10).
 Cycle 17 GO, GTO, cals, etc: ~4550 orbits (100 NIC).
 Cycle 15/16 carryover: ~600 orbits (500 NIC).
 Total C15/16/17: ~5150 orbits.
 Planned Cycle 17 “tail:” ~650 orbits.

Expected subscription:
 4500 orbits/380 days = 11.8 orb/day ~ 82.6 orbits/week.
 Slightly above the anticipated rate of 80 orbits/week.
          Some science may come forward into SMOV if space allows.
          Some orbits may be dropped if NIC restart is unsuccessful.

LRPG is ready for SMOV and Cycle 17.

    STSDAS deliveries were delivered with each of these

  All Guest Observers requesting access to their Cycle 17 data from new and serviced instruments
  before the NASA ERO press release date must agree to refuse any public discussion or display of
  these data and/or any scientific results derived from them until after the official NASA ERO press
  conference. Public discussions include seminars, colloquia, press conferences, lectures,
  conference posters, website postings, mass media interviews, and journal publications. Do you
  agree to these terms?

  Before you distribute these data further to co-investigators or other collaborators working with
  you on these data, they must agree to these terms also.

    NCS re-start attempt during the first week of
     SMOV:
          Detailed re-start procedure is being defined.
          Nominal cool-down time is estimated to be four weeks
           (previously two weeks).
          The NICMOS SMOV4 program remains the same as of
           September 2008.
          Coronagraphic programs placed at the end of the SMOV
           period.
          Photometric and grism calibrations will be done as part
           of a Special Cycle 17 Calibration program.
    If this NCS re-start attempt is unsuccessful, stand
     down from all NICMOS activities during SMOV.

         Otherwise, NICMOS pipeline calibration software is ready to fully support NICMOS SMOV

   ACS:
         OPRs 62104 (time-dependent distortion keywords) addressed and installed in OPUS 2009.2.
         CALACS should be ready to support SMOV activities when OPR 62336 has been addressed with
          the quick-fix to OPUS 2009.2. This OPR corrects a problem with CALACS crashing with floating -
          point CCDGAIN values in the headers of RAW (_raw.fits) ACS files.

   MultiDrizzle:
         Updates, primarily to support reprocessing, included: recognizing WFPC2 DQ images in MEF and
          waiver-FITS format, getting full 64-bit support working under Solaris, processing data in native
          units or electrons, and fixing a bug processing ACS/WFC data in OTFR.
         MultiDrizzle remains ready to fully support all ACS data processing needs during SMOV and can
          be used to test WFC3 distortion calibrations in off-line processing as needed.

          calibration.
         All other modes required for SMOV support have been implemented, tested by the
          COS team and delivered for use in the pipeline.

                           Summary of Results
    Run was vital for testing analysis software, training analysts, verifying
• Dry
 communication and data flow, and exposing problems

• Weverified that we can optimize the parameters by detecting differences in
 images with different parameter offsets

• Werehearsed our decision making process by declaring that only 4 iterations were
 necessary to meet the goals of the OC

• Issues raised and fixed by Dry Run:
• - analysis software has been revised/new tasks added
•          - incorrect OPUS keyword issues fixed
• - Phase II proposal typos and commanding issues fixed
• - iterations 5 and 6 swapped to allow a full set of visits if we stop early
• - OC timeline has been extended to allow extra thinking time and to        make
  better use of SMS boundaries

                Central storage system has new areas dedicated to SM4/SMOV configured in highly
                 available (RAID6) configuration. Two disks can fail and the storage will continue to
                 function.
                     Waiver request filed 4/15 to add ~12 TB prior to launch; work scheduled for 4/27

                The email server is also connected to the UPS and generator

          Planning and Scheduling operations move to GSFC
          Science instrument support staff can go to GSFC

                Room 3/144 at GSFC will be available through 8/31
    Plans to address outages – no changes
          Scheduled outages: NISN sends notices of planned outages well in advance, usually 1-2 weeks.
           If timing is bad, we will reschedule with GSFC/NISN.
          Unscheduled outages: STScI will contact GSFC (Simrall) and/or NISN Help Desk in the event of
           an unplanned outage and work to resolve as quickly as possible.
