Use Dreamweaver Help

1.   Click “Help” on the menu bar, then
     click “Using Dreamweaver”
2.   Click the “Search Tab”
3.   Type “saving” in the Type in the
     keyword to find text box
4.   Click “List Topics”, then scroll down
     to view the topic.
5.   Select saving in the Type in the
     keywords to find text box, type
     “save files”, be sure to type the
     quotation Marks), then press
     [Enter]
7.    Double-click the first topic in
      the topic list

          appears in the right frame.

Create a Root Folder

1.   Click the Start button on the
     taskbar, point to “All
     Programs”, then point to
     “Accessories” then click
     Windows Explorer.
2.   Navigate to the drive and
     folder where you will create a
     folder to store your files for the
     Tripsmart Web Site.
3.   Click “File” on the menu bar,
     point to “New”, then click
     “Folder”
4.   Type “tripsmart to rename the
     folder, then press [Enter].
5.   Close Windows Explorer.
Create a Root Folder

1.    Double-Click the “hard drive
      icon”, then double-click the
      folder where you will create a
      folder to store your Data Files
      to open it.
2.    Click “File” on the menu bar,
      then click “New Folder
3.    Type “tripsmart” to rename the
      folder
     1.   You created a new folder to
          serve as the root folder for the
          TripSmart Web Site.
Define a Website

1.   Return to Dreamweaver, then click
     the “Create New Dreamweaver
     Site” on the Start Screen.
2.   Click the “Advanced tab” (if
     necessary), then type TripSmart in
     the “Site Name Text Box”.
3.   Click the “Browse for File icon” next
     to the Local root folder textbox.
     Click the “From List Arrow” in the
     Choose local root folder for site
     TripSmart dialog box, click the
     drive and folder where your Web
     site files are stored,, then click the
     tripsmart folder.
4.   Click “Open”, then click “Select”
5.   Verify that the “Refresh Local File
     List Automatically” and the “Enable
     Cache” check boxes are both
     checked, then click OK
      1.   The enable cache option tells DW to use
           your computer’s temporary memory, or
           cache, while you work.
      2.   The refresh local file list automatically
           display changes you make in your file lists,
           which eliminates the need to use the
           Refresh command.
Set Up Server Access

1.   Click “Site” on the menu bar,
     the click “Manage Sites”
2.   Click “TripSmart” in the
     manage sites dialog box (if
     necessary), then click “Edit”.
3.   Click the “Advanced Tab” (if
     necessary), click “Remote Info”
     in the Category list, click the
     “Access list arrow”, then
     choose the method you will
     use to publish your Web site.
1.    Go to http://www.tripod.com
2.    New Users click “Sign up”
3.    Scroll down to:
     1.   Tripod Free”
     2.   Click “Sign up”
4.    Member Name=
      block#student#room#
5.    Password
      Campus Cruiser Password
6.    Enter Confirmation Code
7.    Click “I Agree”
8.    If any special offers pop up
      scroll down and click “No
      Thanks”

9.    At the top of the screen you
      should see “Hello, your
      member name”
10.   Do not log off Internet, go back
      to DW

Add a New folder to a
      Website

1.   Right-/click the “Trip-smart
     site” in the Files panel, then
     click “New folder”
2.   Type “assets” in the folder text
     box, then press [Enter]
Set the Default images
        Folder

1.   Click the “Site list arrow” next to
     “Tripsmart” on the Files panel, click
     “Manage sites”, then click “Edit”.
2.   Click the “Browse for File Icon”
     next to the Default images folder
     text box.
3.   Navigate to the folder where your
     website files are stored, double-
     click the “tripsmart folder”, double-
     click the “assets folder”, then
     “Select”
4.   Click “OK”, then click “Done”
Set the Home Page

1.   Open dwa_2.htm from the
     location where your Data Files
     are stored.
2.   Click “File” on the menu bar,
     click “Save As”, click the Save
     in list arrow”, navigate to the
     tripsmart folder, “type”
     “index.htm” in the File name
     text box, then click “Save”.
3.   Right-click the “index.htm”
     filename in the Files panel,
     then click “Set as Homepage”.
Save a graphic in the
   assets folder

1.   Click the “TripSmart banner” to
     select it.
         1.   The Src box in the Property Inspector
              displays the current location of the
              selected banner.
2.   Click the “Browse for File Icon”
     next to the Src text box in the
     Property Inspector, click the “Look
     in list arrow”, navigate to the assets
     folder in your Data Files folder for
     this chapter, click “tripsmart.jpg”,
     then click “OK”
       1.   The TripSmart banner is automatically
            copied to the assets folder of the
            TripSmart Ebsite, the foder that you
            designated as the default images folder.
            The Src text box now shows the path of
            the banner to the assets folder in the
            Website.
3.   Until you copy a graphic from
     an outside folder to your
     Website, the graphic is not part
     of the Web site and the image
     will appear as a broken link on
     the page when the Web site is
     copied to a remote site.
Add Pages to a Web
       Site

1.   Click the “plus sign” to the left
     of the assets folder (if
     necessary) to open the folder
     and view its contents,
     “tripsmart.jpg”.
2.   Right-Click the “tripsmart root
     folder”, click “New File”, type
     “catalog.htm” to replace
     “untitled.htm”, then press
     [Enter]
3.   Repeat Step 2 to add five
     more blank pages to the
     TripSmart Web site, then
     name the new files
      1.   services.htm
      2.   tours.htm
      3.   newsletter,.htm
      4.   clothing.htm
      5.   accessories.htm
4.   Click the “Refresh button” on
     the Files panel to list the files
     alphabetically.
Select Site Map Options

1.   Click the “Site List Arrow” next
     to TripSmart in the Files panel,
     click “Manage Sites”, click
     “TripSmart” (if necessary),
     then click “Edit” to open the
     Site Definition dialog box.
2.   Click “Site Map Layout” in the
     Category list
      1.   Verify the index.htm is specified as
           the homepage in the Home page
           text box.
3.   Verify that index.htm is
     specified as the homepage in
     the Home page text box.

4.   Click the “Page titles option
     button”

5.   Click “OK”, then click “Done”
View a Site Map

1.   Clcik the “View list Arrow” on
     the Files panel, then click “Map
     View”.
2.   Click the “Expand/Collapse
     button” on the file toolbar to
     display the expanded site map.
3.   Click the Expand/Collapse
     button on the toolbar to
     collapse the site map.
4.   Click the “View List Arrow”,
     then click “Local View”.
      1.   The file list appears again in the
           Files panel.
5.   Click “File” on the menu bar,
     then click “Exit”
