A partnership of three community radio stations: Bristol Community fm, Glastonbury fm, Somer Valley fm COMMUNITY RADIO SALES MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible to: The partnership Salary: 18k to 20k for a 12 month fixed contract. Plus commission Hours of work: 37.5 Hours per week, flexible Base: Neg. Either Bristol, Glastonbury or Midsomer Norton Date start: June 2011 Contract: 12 month initial contract, with potential for extension subject to funding Holiday entitlement: 20 days, plus bank holidays Job Purpose: The purpose of the post is to: Develop and capitalise on new sales leads on behalf of the partnership, seeking & securing new business opportunities. To work across the three community radio stations in the partnership. Main duties: Develop new business relationships, generate and negotiate new income for partnership to an agreed annual target of £45k invoiced revenue, to increase year-on-year. Take responsibility for your own lead-generation and appointment setting. Produce sales and marketing materials suitable for raising awareness of community radio’s “offer” amongst commercial sector organisations and businesses. Actively and successfully manage the sales process, including lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solution pitch; negotiation; and close. Create and be accountable for all client proposals, contracts and any further documentation. Define and negotiate customer contracts. Respond to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner. Manage the accounts of all clients purchasing from the partnership, including co-ordinating and monitoring delivery by the three stations. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service quality are achieved. Represent the partnership either jointly or independently, at key networking events, with the aim of using these events to gain new business leads and contacts. Support the partnership to identify key markets and steer sales activity. General Duties To attend all meetings as required To undertake any training considered necessary by the partnership To participate in a process of continuous evaluation of the organisation's effectiveness in fulfilling its aims and objectives in regards to sales potential To comply in all areas of work with each station’s Equal Opportunities Policy and other policies. To promote, participate in and contribute in all reasonable ways to the overall aims and objectives of the partnership To participate in Supervision and Appraisal meetings. You will be expected to spend a large proportion of your time out of the office in meetings. Travel throughout the region is a major factor of the role. The post has a requirement of 37.5 hours per week flexible which can be agreed with the partnership. The post holder must be flexible to respond to needs at busy times and be prepared to work unsociable hours when required.
