     JAMISON CONSERVATION AWARD
The Arizona Deer Association has created a very special Sportsman Conservation award, and
named it in honor of the late Jim Jamison of Flagstaff Arizona.

Those of us that had the good fortune to know Jimmy realize just how special he really was. You
could not find a kinder more gentle soul then Jim. His infectious smile and a certain gleam in his
eye, made you instantly comfortable and welcome. His passion for family and friends was
demonstrated daily buy his words and deeds and his generosity regularly spilled over to people he
didn’t even know.

Some of us had the extreme good fortune to hunt with Jimmy. It was in the field that you could
measure his zest for life. He always had a smile, no matter the pain or difficulty of the stalk. He
would drag himself up the mountain when most would simply not even go. It’s a good thing he
was handicapped by a bad leg, diabetes and 70+ years, otherwise most of us would have been too
embarrassed to even hunt with him. He was truly one of a kind, one who walked the walk, that
most of us recognize is very special.

Special thanks to Jimmy’s wife Darlene, his
daughters and other family members for
allowing us to share and spend time with him.

It is the intention of the Arizona Deer
Association to annually search for an
individual that possesses the qualities of Mr.
Jamison. We are hopeful we will be successful
in finding that special person; but if we don’t,
we will simply not give the award that year and
continue to search until we find a qualified
recipient in a future year.

                                        -5-
Below are the Criteria for presenting the Jamison Conservation Award

    Arizona Resident

 Recipient’s Contributions must have taken place in Arizona

 Individual must have a long and distinguished history of involvement in any or all of these
categories: Wildlife Conservation Activities, Community Service, Mentoring Youth,
Outdoor Education, Wildlife Agency Service, Monetary Contributions to Wildlife
Conservation, or Advocacy of Hunting and other Outdoor Related Activities.

 Contributions of the individual may be as a Volunteer, from Professional Employment, or
as an Elected or Appointed Official. A combination of these criteria could be involved

 Must be capable of being a role model for all conservationists and have demonstrated
       good character throughout their life.

 Must not have a history of violations of the laws of the United States of America or
Arizona State laws or hunting rules and regulations

If you know of someone who meets the strict criteria for the Jamison Conservation Award,
please submit their name to the Arizona Deer Association. You need not be a member of
the Arizona Deer Association to submit their name, nor does the nominee need to be a
member of the Association. Write us at: PO Box 38118, Phoenix, AZ. 85069-8118 or call us at
602-395-DEER.

To commemorate this prestigious award the Arizona Deer Association has commissioned wildlife
bronze artist Ken Rowe to create and cast a special bronze tribute. Thanks to the generosity of
Mr. John Gisi, a long time friend and hunting companion of Jim Jamison, each recipient of the
Jamison Conservation Award, will receive on of these magnificent bronzes.

         Live Auction of Special Permits
The ADA has been awarded three special State of Arizona Permits. All of the
money raised from the sale of these tags is used for species-specific management
and habitat restoration programs. Since the inception of the "commissioner’s tag"
program millions of dollars have been raised and spent for the benefit of wildlife
and the sportsmen who support them.

 Special Mule Deer Permit 

This is the best mule deer hunt in North America! Hunt
almost the entire state including the “Arizona Strip” and
the famous “Kiabab.” Each year there are some fantastic
bucks taken in these areas. It’s not uncommon for permit
buyers to take bucks over the magic 200” B&C mark. Two
years ago a hunter harvested a buck that scored 295! This
tag usually sells for more than any other auction tag deer
hunt sold in the country. This permit has a 365-day season
from August 1, 2006 through July 31, 2007!

 Two Special Coues Whitetail Permit 

Hunt most of central and southern Arizona, some of the best whitetail habitat in the Southern U.S.
Each year some fantastic bucks are taken on these special tags. These are the only two special
whitetail tags available this year. The ADA has developed partnerships with various
organizations around the state to insure that we make the wisest decision possible when it comes
to the allocation of the tag revenues. These permits have a 365-day season from August 1, 2006
through July 31, 2007!

                                       - 11 -
The ADA is working hard for the deer in this state. This is a volunteer
organization and we can always use more help! If you would like to
participate, please give us a call at (602) 395-DEER, or talk with any
of the Board members at tonight’s event.
