     Description of the innovation       What is the problem?/Who has this problem? Costly and bulky ultracapacitors
                                         today limit their adoption in automotive, energy grid, renwebles, UPS and consumer
                                         applications for regenerative energy storage and high power demand needs.
                                         Solution: Our transformational ultracapacitor technology for energy storage using
                                         graphene electrode and ionic liquid electrolyte is expected to increase the energy
                                         density of current ultracapacitors by 3-4 folds while also improving the power and
                                         cycling superiority.

    Description of the innovation          What is the problem?/Who has this problem? Mobility is becoming more
                                           expensive. As there are no alternatives to cars, we have to optimize the efficiency of
                                           their usage. Studies have proven that on every ride are at least 2 seats free – which
                                           are currently unused but valuable ressources.
                                           Solution: flinc connects navigation software with mobile phones and arranges free
                                           seats within seconds and little effort. It considers seats in cars, busses and taxis,
                                           has a cashless payment system and is highly secure for drivers and passengers.

    Description of the innovation           What is the problem?/Who has this problem? The major part of the fuel energy
                                            is wasted for the exhaust gases and the cooling water. If balanced at the exhaust
                                            valve, approx. 35-40 % of the total fuel energy is thermal energy of the exhaust gas,
                                            while 20 % is wasted for the cooling water.
                                            Solution: In a specially designed and very efficient heat exchanger the waste heat
                                            converts the water to steam, which will be expanded in a screw engine. The screw
                                            engine is connected to a generator. After generating additional electricity the steam
                                            will be condensed to further increase the efficiency.
                                            Advantages and benefits: Increase of the efficiency by about 12 % to 22 %, short
                                            amortization time
                                            Unique selling point: Applicable for a temperature range of 150°C to 400°C,
                                            small size and weight, high efficiency, feasable also with wet steam
                                            Competitors: No direct competition. Most recovery systems are using steam tur-
                                            bines, which are not suitable for low steam temperatures, wet steam and low power.

     Description of the innovation          What is the problem?/Who has this problem? There is currently a great demand
                                            for “green” energy sources, and existing hydrogen technologies like electrolysers,
                                            gas storage and fuel cells already make it feasible for hydrogen energy supply
                                            to become the new standard for green power generation.
                                            Solution: h-tec’s proprietary PEM pressure electrolyser modules (up to 3 Nm3/h H2,

                                              main metabolic pathways during methane production. A biochip will be equipped
                                              with the localised genes and used for analysing the microbial populations of
                                              different biogas plants. With the generated data, operators of biogas plants will be
                                              able to better control their plants and optimize the microbiological processes
                                              for a higher yield of methane. Via the expedient cooperation of fundamental and
                                              applied research biogas plants shall thus be operated very effectively in the future.

                                        around the globe, it is not generated when and where the demand is, rather
                                        unpredictably only when the wind is blowing or the sun is shining. In addition,
                                        today’s renewable fuel is still produced from biomass mostly competing with feed
                                        stock.

                                        Here an innovative concept will be introduced that addresses all these issues. With
                                        this concept it is possible to effectively storing renewable energy (biogas as well
                                        as wind- and solar power in connection with biomass) decentralized in the flexible
                                        usable bio fuel – Bio-Methanol. This talk will in particular discuss the possibility and
                                        the application opportunities of converting biogas into Bio-Methanol.

                                        Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB in Stuttgart. Based on a Flat Panel
                                        Airlift (FPA) photobioreactor, Subitec is able to mass-cultivate microalgae by using
                                        solar energy and flue gases as a free source of CO2. Subitec revolutionizes the usage
                                        of algae biomass by making a resource saving production possible on an industrial
                                        scale. In addition to the production of high-priced substances for the food and
                                        feed industry as well as for the chemical and cosmetics industry, the net energy
                                        balance of Subitec’s cultivation system also allows the energetic use of the biomass
                                        as biogas and biodiesel.
