                  Panel Overview
• Utility AMI is a user-driven forum within the UCA User
  Group community:
   – Defines serviceability, security and interoperability guidelines for
       • Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI)
       • Demand responsive infrastructure (DRI)
   – It is developing high level policy statements that can be used to
facilitate efficient requirements and specification development
       • Using a common language that minimizes confusion and
         misunderstanding between utilities and vendors.
• The AMI Enterprise Task Force has been set up to
address meter data management systems (MDMS) to
  enterprise back office system connectivity.

                   Panel Overview

   – Improve multivendor interoperability
   – Reduce time/cost to integrate
   – Support best of breed applications
   – Help users manage technology change
        • field technology independent and back office platform independent
• Three utilities that are actively involved with AMI
programs and that are also key members of this working
  group,
   – They are here to:
        • Share insights and lessons learned with their programs

  Key Collaboration Concept

• Standard building blocks are defined by CIMug and
the affiliated IEC working groups along with other
relevant industry groups (e.g., Open Applications Group
  (OAG), MultiSpeak, OGC)
• Requirements (use cases) are gathered from helpful
  sources
• The AMI Enterprise Task Force articulates Common
industry practices that satisfy requirements through
the use of standard building blocks.
   – Recommended extensions and changes to standard building
blocks are provided back to appropriate standards bodies.
