I.      HANDBOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

II.     COACHES ASSOCIATION RECOMMENDATIONS
           A. Recommended that Div I National Tournament be a 4 day event (Regions need to discuss a
           four day tournament and The Committee needs to discuss a potential four day bracket.
           Information will come forth at next years annual meeting). No team play more than 3 games a
           day. No team be eliminated the first day.
           B. National Tournament Opening Ceremony be combined with the banquet the day before
           C. Division I, II and III National Tournament be at the same site
III.    HANDBOOK CHANGES


1.      Section 2 Tournament Dates

         Delete: 2011….

         Add:   2014     May 15-17 @ Canyons Complex; St. George, Utah

             2012 and 2013 @ Canyons Complex; St George, Utah



2.      Section 3 Tournament Host Pre-Tournament Responsibilities

        A. Pre-Tournament information shall be sent out by April 12, 2012

3.      Section 4 District Grid change:

        Region 8aSt John’s River State College
                 College of Central Florida
    Region 8 b Pensacola State College
                 Gulf Coast State College
                 South Florida Comm College
4. Section 4. D. May 12, 2012

5. District B Format

       Region 23 will always play Region 2’s #8 seed on May 2, 2012 for entrance into the Region 2
  Tournament.       Region 2 with secure the officials and make all arrangements for the play in game if it

  occurs.     If Region 23 team wins, they will be required to pay Region 2 an entry fee. Region 23 must

   have a .500 record.

   District I Format

    In 2012, Region 9 will host Region 13 in the Region 9 double-elimination tournament at Otero as
    the last seed. Region 13 team must have a .500 record 10 days prior to the Region 9 Tournament.
    Region 9 will hire and pay for umpires, pay for awards, etc.


   District J Format

    Region 10 will host on May 10-12, 2012

    The Region 20 rep will be seeded with respect to Region 10’s #1 seed. Region 20 representative
must have a .500 record 10 days prior to the start of the Region 10 Tournament. At least 25% of their
overall schedule must be against DI opponents per NJCAA Softball By-Laws. If in the tournament, the
Region 20 rep will have to pay tournament fees.


   District K Format

      1. Best of 3 game series

            Two (2) games on first day
                           th
      2. May 4 and 5 (6 rain day) 2012

      3. Sites:

            2012 Region 16

            Host will pay for officials and awards

6. Section 4.G.2.      (old) G moves to the end of the rotation. F starts the rotation.

   A. Change to May 15, 2011 to May 13, 2012.

10... Section 10. National Poll Procedures

  A. The National Poll shall consist of the top 20 teams for 2012

  B. National Poll shall honor the submitted rankings within the regions.

  (old B becomes C)

    Above the Section Directors grid change 2010-2011 to 2011-2012.



  F. The National Poll shall be released March 14, 21, 28 April 4, 11, 18 25, 2012.
11. Section 11. A. (A-D New)

       A. Nomination Procedures: Colleges shall nominate players for All American to the Region.

          Regional Director will submit nominees in rank order to Softball Committee Chair; Add…The
          Region Ranking must be honored when making All American selections. AA will be selected by
          the (Delete..Fast Pitch) Softball Committee.

      B. Deadline Date to Committee Chair” No later than Friday prior to the opening day of the National

         Tournament, May 11, 2012.

      C. Deadline date for selection: ASAP following the NJCAA Championship

      D. Number AA/Positions Chosen: 45 Total

         1. First Team: 12 (4 battery, 4 infielders, 3 outfielders, 1 DP/utility)

          2. Second Team: 12 Same as above

          3. Third Team:      12 Same as above

        (New) E. The following guidelines……… (1. Thru 7. Same)

            ( New) 8. Region Director will send to the NJCAA Softball Chair, the Regions All Americans

      On the “Region All American Form”. Players must be listed in rank order under the positions of

      Outfielder, infielder, battery and DP/utility.   All Stats must be completed for each player in each

       position..

            The individual All American forms, appropriate photos and copy of the players NCJAA stats

       will sent directly to the NJCAA Office.


    12. Section 6. C. (New)

        The maximum allowable number of individuals an institution can have on the field, including the

      practice field, bull pen, bench and dugout is 30. Each team is limited 24 uniform players and

      maximum of 6 combined coaches, trainers and managers recognized by their respective institution.

      The official roster will be signed and turned in at the tournament coaches meeting. No deletions or

      additions will be allowed after the roster is turned in.

1. Thank you to Mary Ellen Leicht and the National Office for all their support of Division I
   Softball, national poll, and other softball issues.

       great National Tournament

6. Bats must be on the 2011 NCAA Approved bat list

      Coaches must print out the Approved bat list each Monday, highlight their bats on the list and give the
      list to the umpires prior to their game. Bats will be tested throughout the season and if it fails a test
      and gets a third strike, the bat will be removed from the list.
