About the Lord’s Supper --
God’s Word teaches that in this Holy Supper our Lord Jesus Christ
offers to us His true body and true blood (Matthew 26:26-28), in,
with, and under the bread and wine. He does this for the
forgiveness of our sins. When we have faith in Christ, truly believe
all His words, including, “Given and shed for you for the forgiveness
of sins,” we receive His body and blood worthily. The Bible clearly
teaches that one must examine oneself before partaking of this
Sacrament. This means that we recognize and are
sorry for our sins; trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior;
and plan, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to
change our sinful lives. Holy Communion is also an
expression of our unity of faith. Those who hold to
the above teachings and those of the LC-MS are
welcome to partake with us. If you have questions regarding any of
our teachings please speak with Pastor Decker. We desire an
opportunity to grow with you in faith and knowledge of Him. If you
are visiting our church and desire to participate please discuss with
the pastor your intention to commune.
Children and young people who have not completed Communion
preparation classes with the pastor (confirmation) are encouraged
to come forward, cross their arms over their hearts, and receive a
special blessing!
For further reading see the 10th & 11th chapters of 1st Corinthians.
Prayers for before communing and after receiving the Sacrament
can be found on the inside cover of the hymnal.
Please Note: We now have gluten-free wafers for those who need
them. Please talk to an elder before the service if you would like to
receive one.
We also have alcohol-free wine for those who need it. This new wine
is white and will be at the top of each tray.
