Celebrate and Discover with Media Fiesta 2010
Sophomore edition promises to take the festivities across Singapore

Singapore, 24 February 2010 – Media Fiesta, a month-long festival offering
interactive media activities, experiential games and showcasing local talent, will return
for its second edition in March 2010. Themed “Celebrate and Discover Media”, this
year’s programme line-up will bring Singaporeans on an exploratory journey into the
world of media.

Continuing their partnership from 2009, Media Fiesta 2010 is hosted by the Media
Development Authority (MDA) and organised by Pico Art International. The focus for
this year is to provide an inspirational platform for audiences to experiment and
engage with various forms of media – including traditional, new and future media.
Through its various activities, Media Fiesta offers participants a glimpse into the future
by demonstrating the convergence of media and info communications, thereby exciting
Singaporeans about the new possibilities brought about by this transformation. It also
aims to create greater awareness of and appreciation for Singapore-made media
content, services and applications.

The inaugural event in 2009 featured a four-day main event and fringe events across
the island, focusing on public education activities. In 2010, the outreach strategy has
been fine-tuned to bring Media Fiesta to a larger audience. Media Fiesta 2010 will
feature a ‘Media Transformer’, a mobile display that showcases interactive media
exhibits such as the Future Media Showcase, a Download Café, Media in Creation,
Media Trivia and Know your Film Ratings.

The Media Transformer will make its stops at four anchor events1, with one happening
on each weekend of the month. These are:

    1. The Spectaculars (5-6 March, The Cathay Cineplex, Hall 4): A screening
of film classics from the 50’s to 70’s.
    2. Enchanted Journey through the Pages (13-14 March, Woodlands
Regional Library): A workshop where children will get hands-on
experience in story writing and e-publishing.
    3. The Quest of the Unknown (21 March, Colosseum, iluma): A family-
oriented gaming competition where gamers can win attractive prizes.
    4. Sounds@*SCAPE (27 March, *SCAPE): A musical showcase featuring
the best of up and coming Singaporean talents.

Note: For full details of Anchor Events, see Annex 3.

Dr. Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer of the Media Development Authority said:
“Media is a part of our lives. Media greatly enhances and enriches how Singaporeans,
whether young or old, work, learn and play. Through its exciting event offerings, Media
Fiesta 2010 will showcase the vibrancy of the media sector, provide a platform for
Singaporeans to enjoy the best works and talents from our media professionals, and
discover the breadth of media choice available to them today. The public will also get a
chance to learn how social and community norms ultimately influence the setting of
classification standards.”

A collaborative effort, Media Fiesta 2010 has the support of close to 60 partners and
sponsors from both the public and private sectors such as National Library Board,
NTUC U Live, TQ Global, Toshiba, Panasonic and AV8 among others. (See Annex 2
for full list of partners and sponsors).

“We are honoured and excited to be working with the Media Development Authority for
the second year running on Media Fiesta. Having helped to conceptualise and run the
festival last year, we are proud to be able to help evolve and grow this festival. The
media landscape has already changed so much from just a year ago – and we look
forward to bringing the exciting aspects of media to the public again,” said James Chia,
Group President of Pico Art.

Featured Local Bands

For This Cycle
Performing under the name “For This Cycle”, 16 year old Weiwen Seah is a
singer/songwriter from the sunny of island Singapore. Having lived in several
different countries of the world, such as Taiwan and the United States, Weiwen has
experienced contrasting cultures which he draws inspiration from and is also inspired
by artistes such as Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Josiah Leming. Having a lot more to
learn, Weiwen is bent on making music that will leave an impact on his listeners.

Since having returned to the heartland he has played a variety of shows including the
On The Waterfront series held at the prestigious Esplanade Outdoor Theater.
Weiwen was also featured on Mediacorp's Live N Loaded on Channel 5, where he

voted by the viewers for an encore performance, where he was selected as the Best
Breakthrough Act. For This Cycle has also been invited to perform this year's
Baybeats Festival, which features some of Singapore's best indie bands and many
other overseas bands.

Silhouette
Silhouette is a resurrection, an outline of a featureless interior, and the birth of a new
sound. It features modern hard rock with the early 90s Emo sound with influences of
Post-Hardcore and Nu Metal. Heavily influenced by Incubus, Glassjaw and Deftones,
these bands’ influence can be seen in Silhouette’s songwriting, melodies, harmonies
and sound. A noticeable trademark on each of Silhouette's songs are their ambient,
dreamy, lullaby tunes, combined with Powerful expressive vocals. Edgy beats,
tasteful riffs, reverb-drenched soundscapes, feature in a Pop Rock fusion with a gush
of aggression.

Barricade
Barricade is a four-piece band which comprises of a drummer (Izzam), a guitarist
(Chuck), bassist (Dan), and vocals (Rico). Formed in Singapore in late October 2008,
Barricade is a merger of bands from different genres who have come together to play
murderous music. Barricade creates melodious tunes, from beautiful soaring guitar

EyePower Games Private Limited
iHub, 9 Jurong Town Hall Road, #01-53, Singapore 609431
Tel: +65-6566-8078 Fax: +65-6566-8163
Website: www.EyePowerGames.com

The Company

EyePower Games was incorporated on 28 May 2004 by its four founding members, who set
up the company to explore and experiment with augmented reality when such a concept was
still in its infancy. The company’s directions remain true to these early aspirations, to create a
truly participative and collaborative technology platform that can be harnessed to enable
users to experience media-enriched immersive environments, that enhance learning and
collaboration.

The Advanced Video FX (AVFX) is EyePower’s unique imaging technology, which enables
face-tracking, and allows webcam users to superimpose virtual effects on video images of
faces. As one of the first of its kind, the technology drew interest from giants in the industry
such as Creative, which licensed it in March 2005 and featured the software in its line of
webcams for worldwide distribution; AVFX was also licensed in late 2007 to Dell for inclusion
in its webcam-enabled laptops and display screens.

EyePower Games has capitalized on the power of its AVFX technology to build engaging
software applications for the education market: NewsMaker, launched in January 2007, and
Moo-O, released in March 2009, are the first two education software applications that
EyePower has developed on this technology platform. Targeted strategically for use in the
teaching of language arts and language across the curriculum, these software applications
have captured the imagination of teachers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the US
alike. Additionally, the urgency and enthusiasm among politicians and educators to
incorporate the use of Information, Communication, and Interactive Media Technology as part
of effective interventions in classrooms in these nations have meant early successes for
EyePower in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the US. In particular, Moo-O — aimed at
motivating young children to learn through play, and to read through the power of digital
puppetry — has already won acclaim in the US by winning Tech and Learning’s Award of
Excellence, just seven months after its launch. This award recognizes the “best of the best”.
This follows the success of Newsmaker, which in September, 2009, was honored with the
16th US Annual Teachers’ Choice Award for Classroom by Learning Magazine, and more
recently, Tech and Learning’s Award of Excellence as well.

In January 2009, recognizing the market potential of EyePower’s software and technologies,
Arizona State University became a shareholder of the company’s subsidiary, EyePower Inc.
which was incorporated in the state of Arizona in December 2008. Focus on the sales and
marketing of the company’s products in the education market in the United States began in
earnest soon after this. In April 2009, sales distributions channels with established education
business partners were set up in North America. Business opportunities have also spread
across the globe with EyePower establishing its business presence in Australia, New Zealand,
Brunei and Malaysia.

EyePower Games continues to create impact in the educational software industry through its
innovative partnerships of video technology with innovative educational software design that
empowers the learner of the 21st century. Its vision: to become the most recognizable brand
in the world that provides the most innovative educational products.

The Product(s)
Moo- O - Reading Together

Moo-O (say it like “Moo-OH” – it means puppet in Mandarin) is a very fun and easy-to-use
software that enthuses children, from 4 to 9 years, to read expressively by role-playing
(digitally) the characters in a story. Using a webcam, the children will be zapped into the
virtual story world, with their faces automatically mapped onto the characters that have
chosen.

News Maker - Making Language Lesson Fun

NewsMaker provides students an easy, affordable, and fun platform to practise writing,
speaking, and presentation skills.
NewsMaker is neither grade-level specific nor content-area specific. It is a tool to help
students improve their communication skills while mastering content in any subject area.

With NewsMaker, students take on the role of news anchor and producer, creating their own
story in 3 easy steps: Write! Read! Publish!

Step 1: Write
In the role of 'reporter', the student plans and writes a news story in NewsMaker.

Step 2: Read
The computer monitor then serves as a teleprompter, and the 'news anchor' reads the story
aloud for practice, then makes a recording. Built-in fun video technologies make it easy to
overlay impressive visual effects. Additional effects can be downloaded from the left panel of
this website.

Step 3: Publish
In this final step, the student becomes the 'news producer' and publishes the recorded clip as
a single video file to be shared with classmates, teachers, family or friends.

The Company

AV8 Media was founded in 1999 and is a systems integrator and training provider for all
aspects of Digital Content Creation. We integrate solutions for Audio and Video editing as well
as 2D and 3D animation.
From very early on, AV8 Media has been at the forefront of new media technology and has
worked with the media industry to fill the knowledge gaps that we see. For example, when

skills to work in this exciting new field.
